December Anything Goes Challenge by Lynn

Reader Lynn submitted this layout for the December Anything Goes Challenge.  She said:

This is a layout of my daughters wedding. She wants me to do framed layouts for her new house, so I'm on a mission. This is a story about how when they got married the mass was half in Ukrainian which is her husbands first language, and English which is her first language. She didn't understand much but she knew he loved her no matter what language he spoke. The details and the rest of the story is on my blog http://scrappyhappymom.blogspot.com/.

Thanks for the great challenge. Have a wonderfully Happy New Year filled with scrappy inspiration.

December Anything Goes Challenge by Elizabeth

Guest Design Team Member Elizabeth submitted this layout for the December Anything Goes Challenge. She said:

The challenge of Anything Goes left me with an awful lot of choice. However, I’ve been working on an album for my grandchildren’s other grandmother, Granny Ann, forever and the pace has been pretty slow. So, I’m taking the opportunity provided by this challenge to complete the album in time for Christmas. I have boxes and boxes of photographs of my grandchildren to get through and this one of my granddaughter, Jennifer, showing her big gap-toothed grin for the camera, is one of my favourites. Jennifer and her three brothers were all Christened on the same day and this photograph was taken during the party that followed. I’ve chosen to use papers from a Kay Miller Designs set called Simple Pleasures because the colours in the floral designs echoed the colours in Jenny's dress perfectly and the ornate heart-shaped shapes together with the little ribbon bow provided just the right embellishment for the layout.

Thanks for looking,
Elizabeth

Here is my pagerize this: I used Rusty Pickle pattern paper for the background as well as the large circle. I sanded the edges of my paper and also the photos. I used We R Memory Keepers alpha chipboard and also sanded the edges. Plain cardstock for the journaling strips and what a quick, fun, fast layout!Tamara

Each month on the 15th we post a new layout for you to "pagerize" (plagerize, copy, lift, steal) whatever term you want to use. The idea will be - to use the posted layout as your inspiration to create your own layout. You can "pagerize" as much or as little of the original layout as you choose. You may want to make a layout just like the one posted - or you may just want to use something about the layout as your inspiration.

Here is reader Amanda's layout for the Pagerize This Challenge # 17.  Once you've completed your layout - email a picture and brief description to scrappinpsycho@live.com

All entries will be posted here at Scrap Our Stash. This challenge runs through midnight central time on January 12th. The "Pagerizer" (in this case Amanda), will then choose a winner from all the entries. The winner will be announced on January14th. Then the winner will be asked to submit a layout for us to "Pagerize" starting on the 15th of January. Posted by Picasa

December Anything GoesChallenge by Ren-Yi

Design Team Member Ren-Yi submitted this project for the December Anything Goes challenge.  She said:

Christmas is truly a wonderful time of the year. It's also one of the craziest when it comes to getting everything done (at both work and home) I have to come clean and admit that my international mailing is not complete. So, dear international friends, if you're reading this, you might be getting it near around (after) Christmas. It will allow you to enjoy Christmas a little longer ;) This is also the time of year when I am most grateful for any Anything Goes challenges, like we have going at Scrap Our Stash's December Challenge. It allows us DTers to "kill a few more birds with that the many Christmas stones" we have going. It's also neat, because lots of the girls are sharing cute gift ideas which are already making me think of next year :)
Mini Gingerbread Houses
Most of you know that I make a home-made thing every year, be it baking or something paper crafty. This year is no different, except that I didn't inspire this project, but rather Florian. Who would have thought he'd take a crafting interest in my December madness? Evidently, he use to make these very cute "gingerbread" houses during his childhood. The catch is, they are made out of butter cookies, rather than gingerbread. Look, our own Mini Candy Cane Lane!  Mini Gingerbread Houses
I really like them, because they were (1) easy to make (2) fast to make (3) fun to make (although some houses had some questionable structural integrity) (4) and they don't make you sick to the stomach trying to eat it all. Nice bite-size houses that any parent could approve. Mini Gingerbread Houses
Icing
  • Lemon Juice (fresh or bottled in the plastic lemon)
  • Powdered Sugar (lots!)
Foundation & Structure
House Embellishments
  • Haribo Gummy Bears
  • Lambertz Dominosteine
  • Kraft Marshmallow Trees & Stars
  • M&Ms Dark Chocolate
  • M&Ms Mint Chocolate
  • Hershey Mint Chocolate
  • Holiday Red Raspberry Berries
  • Holiday Dark Chocolate Nonpareils
  • Sugar Sprinkles (Red & Green)
There is really no science to this, except to have fun! It's really a great project to do with friends or kids. Some hints:
  • For the icing just start with some powdered sugar & some lemon juice and mix to the right consistency. The icing does harden over time, so with a little drop of lemon juice, the icing can be quickly thinned out.
  • Watch out, that it's not too runny, or else the little candy pieces won't stick.
  • The LU Le Petite Beurre were better foundations & walls because they do not crumble as easily as the Bahlsen did when trying to create half sheets for the walls. (But the Bahlsen taste better ;) Maybe I am biased since I had those cookies growing up.) But next time I make them, I will go with the LU Le Petite Beurre.
  • With two people, we managed to make about 30 in 2 hours. This is a fast project!
Check out the Scrap Our Stash's December Challenge. You have until the end of the month to get your inspirations in. What are you making for the holidays? Are you done?

Hi everyone,

What a relief to have free rein with the challenge this month and I’m still quite late! I hope everyone’s holiday preparations are going well and you all have a lovely Christmas!
My page this month is of my daughter, Emma (as always!) petting a goat at a city farm this summer. I just think she looks so grown up and so pretty in this photo. The papers are all Graphic 45 ‘Once Upon a Springtime’ and ‘Le Romantique’ collections. I’ve kept it nice and simple this time, with some coordinating ribbons stapled to the page, flowers using Tim’s tattered florals die and some plain white American Crafts Thickers, which I have inked and glittered. A bit of bling as well of course!
See you in 2012!!

Here is my entry for the December Anything Goes Challenge. This memory box was created as a special reminder of our pet cat who sadly passed away recently. She was in my life for 15 years so it has been difficult not having her around anymore. I wanted something I could display as a tribute to this special friend, Felix. I love the way it turned out, even though there were tears at times during its creation. You can see more details on this creation on my blog http://harmonydiy.blogspot.com/2011/12/memory-box.html

Hi,

I have a project to share for the December Anything Goes challenge. I have had these frames for a few years. They were a freebie from Cross Stitch Crazy magazine and I haven’t got around to stitching the inserts yet.
I finally decided to use patterned paper instead of cross stitch. I used scraps from the Peppermint Twist collection from We R Memory Keepers for the stocking and tree, with a piece of velvety paper for the stocking cuff. The star is cut from a Papermania paper from a Christmas mini book kit.

I hope that you like them. You can see more of my crafting at http://amandas-scrapbook-pages.blogspot.com/

Hi Everyone,

Mary Pat here to bring you my take on the December Challenge of Anything Goes!  I wanted to make a home decor piece.  I have seen so many wonderful banners on the internet and wanted to make one for us.  Here is  my Believe Banner!

For the banner I used Bazzill cardstock and Imaginisce paper and embellishments!  To connect them I used some yummy twine.  To cut out the actual banner pieces I used my Silhouette, but I know there are Cricut banners as well.  I really loved how it turned out and the kids went crazy for it!

Thanks so much for looking!

Hi There,

I'd like to submit a layout for the December Anything Goes Challenge. This is my gorgeous niece Ava. She has the cutest little face and I really enjoy using her on my layouts. This layout suits her to a 'T' as she is so sweet, you just can't help but get caught up in all her cuteness!

For this layout I used the Bo Bunny "Gabrielle" collection. One of my favourite collections to use. I just adore those butterflies!

December Anything Goes Challenge by Kathy

My December craftyness has been lacking so the Anything Goes Challenge was perfect for me. I did make this decoration for my door at work. The tree is actually made from the yellow pages that were in my recycle bin. The angels were from Christmas Pasts. I was going to add Goodwill to men - but I knew everyone that knows me would get the pun!

December Anything Goes challenge by Laurie

Reader Laurie submitted this layout for the December Anything Goes Challenge.  She said:

Hello!

Here is my take on the December Anything Goes Challenge.  I challenged myself to follow a sketch and use up stuff in my stash. I based this off of a layout by scrapbooker Seppa from Scrapbook.com. I had an 8x8 pad of Basic Grey paper in my stash and I never scrap 8x8 so the paper pad was just taking up space. But I knew that the smaller paper would be great for cutting out the squares, paper strips, and orange title tag on this layout.  Also, I used some orange misting spray that had been sitting around my desk without being used for months. I wish you could see it better in the picture, but it's there! I'm so glad I was able to use some unloved and forgotten supplies for this layout!

Happy holidays!

Hi!

Here's my entry for the December Anything Goes challenge. It's all made from scraps of this and that, with toilet paper rolls, cardboard, material and a cardboard box for our Sunday School kids at church. I got the idea from the December Prima Magazine. As my challenge I chose to dig for some of my oldest products from my stash and I found some (a lot), but in the process I came across these papers and embellies from SEI and immediately thought of the photos I just got of my son's first stitches.  So these products aren't as old as I originally intended to find but at least a couple yrs., so I'm calling it good.  We had a great friend day for my 3 oldest right before Halloween, but it ended in 5 stitches for my son. Who would have thought 2 boys could cause so much damage just running into each other? I'm guessing they were going high speed for sure.  What can you find in your stash that will go great with some of your recent photos?:)

December Anything Goes Challenge by Haley

Design Team Member Haley submitted this layout for the December Anything Goes challenge. She said:

Here is my "anything goes" layout for December. The left page is the title page for my family's trip to New England this summer. We drove (roundtrip) about 2900 miles and passed through 14 different states in 13 days (from Georgia to New Hampshire for my cousin's wedding and back). The large photo is my immediate family gathered at my cousin's wedding. The entire album was created digitally using Close To My Heart's Studio J online scrapbooking feature. All I had to do was upload my photos, choose my layout sketch, and scrapbook away. I made the entire album with the same paper pack for cohesiveness. The right page is the end page of the album. I collected several of my favorite pictures from the trip and repeated them on this last page. The nine pages in between highlight the places we visited and things that we did. (If you'd like to see the entire album, you can find it on my blog, http://inkyscrapper.blogspot.com.) Thanks for looking! This trip was a great family adventure!

Here is my 2-pg layout for Scrap Our Stash- Anything Goes Challenge...and a silly one at that of my son and his girlfriend at college, bored one evening and taking these bizarre pictures of themselves, which they posted on Facebook- which I just loved them -so jfk I did a page for his scrapbook. I used plain black and white striped background- not to take away from the photos from my stash, the polka dot paper and die cut in peach are by MME "so sophie" and the punched out circles are from Making Memories and scattered on the page with pop dots. I used my Cricut and Gypsy to cut out the large arrows with the title "Double Vision" which works so well -- on them with backed them with black cardstock, which I also used for the mats on the pics. I really enjoyed working with these photos- and really like how this layout turned out...Anything Goes!

December Anything Goes Challenge by Tammy

Design Team Member Tammy submitted this layout for the December Anything Goes Challenge.  She said:

I absolutely love sketches, I am a sketch junkie. I have books of sketches, blogs I frequent for sketches, and of course magazines with sketches. I find that sketches are such a great starting point for a layout. Sometimes I might keep with the sketch design but other times it may not look like the original at all by the time I'm finished with my layout. For December's challenge I decided to use one of the many sketches I have accumulated, this layout is based on a sketch from Let's Scrap. The photo is of my oldest DD dressed in a bunny costume for one of her ballet recitals. In this layout I also used the recital tickets, but since the color of the tickets didn't blend well with the rest of the layout I made a little memorabilia pocket by using a Jenni Bowlin journaling diecut topped with an MME glitter title. Other products I used were Bazzill--CS, MME--PP, dimensional sticker, misc. ribbon and flower. Now let's see what you come up with. And remember, for December anything goes!!

Hello there,
This month I started off a bit shaky on the Christmas spirit, so I decided I would try to scrap some Christmas layouts to maybe help me get into the Christmas mode. I must say, it is helping a bit. I pulled all my Christmas product together and started going through my photos, and I've just been going to town. This was a super easy layout with five 4X6 photos made into a two pager. Quick, simple, and done. I just love coordinating scrapbook products!
