Meet Guest Design Team Member Nathalie

My name is Nathalie, originally from France, I now live in the San Diego area where my husband and I are raising our two boys. Motivated by an intention to get photos out of shoeboxes, I dove into scrapbooking about 5 years ago and it has since become a creative outlet (if not an obsession!) that I can't imagine not indulging in. I describe my style as mostly graphic and clean with a preference for bright colours but I like to try new things. I like to vary the size of my pages and scrap in 8.5X11 as much as in 12X12 and mix in a little 6X12. I also love to create mini albums, cards and occasionally can be found making fun paper projects for my home or as gifts. I have been published in print and ezines, featured on several blogs and have been on several design teams. I also just started teaching at my local scrapbook store. You can see more of my work on my blog: http://anounceofcreativity.blogspot.com/

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to Guest Design for Scrap Our Stash!

I am finally getting around to submitting my Spring Fling layout. We are getting ready to put our house on the market so we can move this summer. This past month has been ridiculous, and this past week I've had painters over to paint pretty much the entire house--it's amazing what kind of damage three young children can do to walls. Lots of artwork! Anyway, spring always reminds me of warmer weather, flowers blooming, and Easter. This is a page I did of my youngest daughter at her sister's preschool Easter party. Now let's see what you can do, the end of April is almost here!

Spring 2011: on a walk to the sub Post Office near my home in Ayr, Scotland, I was knocked out by the blossom on the trees that lined the road, and luckily I had my trusty camera on hand to record it. The red candles on the Chestnut were gorgeous and the pink cherry blossom very pretty, but it was the froth of white May blossom (the Hawthorn) that was particularly splendiferous - and definitely have a 'Spring Fling' :)

The pattern paper I've used is from several sources, Fancy Pants (the base) DCWV (for journaling spot) and Ciao Bella (the photo mat and the fussy cut flower panel at the top). The alphas, doily lace trim, ribbon, leaf trim, flowers and leaves are all from my stash. Most of the alphas I haven't altered at all, but the P and O were of plain wood so I've embossed them with two coats of plain pink powder and one coat of WOW sparkly powder, Magenta Twinkle.

April Challenge Spring Fling by Ren-Yi

At Scrap Our Stash's April Challenge we have a theme challenge: Spring Fling. I decided to focus on nature...and to give my Maya Road Chipboard a good dusting off. Happy Birthday
The chipboards were misted using two Mister Huey colors. While they were drying off, I was working on another project.  Happy Birthday This little bird is outlined with a Stabilo light blue pen and I decided to give him a set of glossy accents for extra sheen. Makes the card pop a little. Happy Birthday A quick little sentiment border and off this card went into the mail! The best part, it's one of those quickie cards! In the meantime, check out the Scrap Our Stash's April Challenge. You have until the end of the month to get your inspirations in. What things have you been doing to enjoy this Spring?

My entry for the April Spring Fling is a layout of my Mother in Law, Wendy, with her two Granddaughters (my little girl Emma and my niece Kathryn) on her 70th birthday in January. Wendy loves Spring flowers, she is a very keen gardener, but the simple Spring flowers are her favourite and so I added lots of flowers to this layout. I gave this layout to her as an Easter card this year. Hope you are all enjoying the delights of Spring!

Thanks,

April SPRING FLING Challenge by Tamara

Design Team Member Tamara submitted this layout for the April SPING FLING Challenge. She said:

The first one is my darling granddaughter's Spring Dance Recital. I used muslin fabric and inked them up to match the paper. I distressed the edges of the photo mats, added the pretty lace and embellies for a great result.

The next one I used Springy colors to help give this a bright look. Pattern paper that had flowers already printed on the edge made for a quick and easy approach. I used some mesh behind the photo mat in a soft off white, added embellishments, made a folded paper ribbon and it finished it off in style.

April SPRING FLING Challenge by Elizabeth

Design Team Member Elizabeth submitted this card for the April SPRING FLING Challenge.  She said:

This card was inspired by the challenge theme for April, Spring Fling, I've gone for a card layout this time. Like many of you I'm sure, I often listen to music whilst working away in the craft space and a current favourite is Paris in Springtime by Paper Moon. It's a tuneful wee number that cheers me up just hearing it and obviously had an influence on this card.

The backing paper is a piece leftover from the Spring Lambs layout I made recently. The image, letters and butterflies are from a gorgeous sheet of Penny Black Stickeroos – these fabulous stickers are perfect when you need to make a card in a hurry. The main image is matted on to white and blue card – the edges are torn to mimic the edges of the sticker. The central panel is made of some turquoise coloured vellum. I never thought I’d use it as it is such an unusual colour but it’s just the right colour for this card. As I wanted to give the butterflies dimension rather than stick them down flat, I backed them onto some of the vellum, then cut them out, before giving them some shape and adhering them to the card. Two shades of seam binding for the bow are the only other embellishment.

I’ve left a list of the materials used on my blog, so please feel welcome to visit me there.

April Spring Fling - Stacy H-W

Design Team Member Stacy H-W submitted this layout for the April SPRING FLING Challenge. She said:

Hi everyone!!  Stacy here and I'm so happy that I am posting a second time this month!  I just love the open idea of a Spring Fling challenge.  I decided to work outside of my personal box this time by doing a layout with photos of only flowers.  I never do a layout without a photo of a person but I live in Las Vegas and spring arrived here a while ago. In fact, we are working our way into summer already.  Everything is blooming.  I know when you think of Vegas you don't think of blooming flowers but we do have them!! LOL
I can't seem to help myself from taking photos of blooming flowers even though I know I never do anything with them.  Well, this time I decided to dedicate a layout to flowers blooming in spring.
I started with some gorgeous patterned paper from My Mind's Eye - Miss Caroline collection.  YUMMY!!  It just screams spring doesn't it?!

The sketch is one of the sketches we are working with in the 28 Days of Sketches class I'm taking online at BigPictureClasses.  I love starting with a sketch because it just seems to get my creativity off and running.  How about you??  Do you use sketches for inspiration?

I finished up my layout with some flowers and bling from my stash.  I just love those pearls on a roll from Recollections I bought last week for 40% off at Michael's!!  Since they were so cheap I decided to be extravagant with them on here.  ha

I hope you enjoy my layout.  Thanks so much for stopping by and looking!

Until next time...happy scrapping!

April SPRING FLING Challenge by Sarah

Design Team Member Sarah submitted this layout for the April SPRING FLING Challenge. She said:

For my 2nd project this month, I decided to go with more SPRING than FLING.
I Scrapbooked our March 31st trip to The Log Farm Sugar Bush near us and the YUMMY Maple Candy.
It got unusually warm, unusually early here this year... which was nice but unfortunately not good for Maple Syrup production. This year was more about the nice stroll in the sun at the farm and less about watching the Maple Syrup workings, because there was none to see, they were all done by then.
For the FLING part I used some trash:
The base is a corrugated cardboard backing that came with a pack of papers. Sprayed it down and dribbled (ahhh... more FLING!) Glimmer Mist on it, then peeled some of the top layer off in long strip and around all the edges. Then I sprayed it again, a LOT.
The pictures are all sanded around the edges with the rougher side of an emery board. Did this quick and hard to get a really roughed up look.
The strip down the middle is ripped Bazzill, edges inked in dirty yellow... As in a dirty ink pad I save for just this kinda thing. Waste-Not-Want-Not!
Then I finger painted Tan paint across the strip so the rub-on letters from Daisy D would *pop*.
The FAMILY was a white outline only, I filled it in quickly with a fat Sharpie.
SWEET tag is a leftover form a Me&My Big Ideas 'Baby Boy' embellishment kit.

I also used this tutorial found through Pinterest(http://poppypaperie.typepad.com/poppy_paperie/2010/10/mini-fold-book.html) to build the mini album. Welcome to all the Spring babies! :)

Design Team Member Elizabeth submitted this layout for the April SPRING FLING Challenge.  She said:

I thought that this month’s challenge, Spring Fling would be easy but for some reason it was not so ... I played around with several ideas but in the end settled for scrapping these little lambs.

I am surrounded by sheep farming country and so every spring I look out for the first newborn lambs of the season. Snowdrops might be the harbinger of spring but when the first lamb is spotted you know it's here in Ayrshire for certain. Just seeing them frolicking in the fields nearby makes me smile, but they are the very devil to photograph ... their mum's are very protective and one sight of me and my camera and they usually head for the hills, as you can see in the photo on the left.

The papers are all from Daisy Bucket Designs, three sheets from the appropriately named In The Meadow collection, and one from Perfect Harmony, another aptly named paper. I've been hoarding them since 2010 so time they got an airing. The curvy strips were created using Kiwi Lane Designs templates, as was the journaling bracket and the butterflies. The titles are computer generated, then cut and adhered with foam squares. The 'sun flower' and several of the other flowers were fussy cut from the patterned papers - the others were punched, scrunched, hot glued together and finished off with card candy ... I prefer to make my own flowers if possible, they seem to coordinate better. The stamped sentiment, my winter mantra, is from Sheena Douglas.

I hope you like this layout – for those interested, there’s a bit more information about Ochiltree on my blog – http://silverscrappers.blogspot.com/

Elizabeth

Hi everyone!  Stacy here with my April Spring Fling project.   We recently got back from our Spring Break vacation to the beach.  The weather was good for most of our trip but there were a couple of cool and windy days.  It didn't stop us from having fun though.  I took this photo of my daughter while she was building a sand castle.  This was one of those super windy days and when she looked up at me her hair was just flying.
I used pattern paper from Doodlebug Designs in a spring value pack of goodies that I had in my stash.  I used some embellies from the Echo Park Splash kit also from my stash.  I'm still loving my ginormous stapler that my mother bought for me for Christmas.

I'm addicted to stapling on my ribbon because of it!  So here is some more stapled ribbon.

I have been taking the 28 Sketches class at Big Pictures Classes and I took my inspiration from one of the many sketches we are working with this month.

Hi everybody;

Here's my interpretation of Aprils' theme "spring fling" - an expression that I had to look up in a dictionary... Not because
it's a very strange expression but because my mother tongue isn't English!

Anyway, the persons on the pictures are myself and my husband.
And it was not a "spring fling" because we have been married for 8 years!
