Pagerize Joni by Kathy

Posted by PicasaHere is my feable attempt at "pagerizing" Joni.  I loved the idea of using the white paint to soften an otherwise busy paper.  But didn't feel real successful.  This is definately not what I was going for - although when I look at it now, I like it a little bit better than I did when I was working on it.  In the future I plan to soften a paper that I have already chosen - trying to find the right paper to soften was crazy!  And I also plan to water the paint down and spread it further so it looks more like a wash.  I actually stamped the title - which I don't usually (never) do - but I was so not liking the page that I didn't want to waste any more time on it by cutting a title and then having to glue it down.  Joni's is a great layout - mine is a cheap copy!:D

Thanks for sharing it with us Joni - it really was a fun page - and I really do plan on pagerizing it again in the future.

Don't forget the Pagerize This Challenge ends tonight at midnight.  See all the details in the Pagerize This Challenge below.  Joni will be picking a winner from all the submissions - and the new Pagerizer will be announced on Friday, October 15th.

October and Pagerize Challenge

Design Team Member Monica submitted this layout for both the Pagerize This and the October Challenge.  She said, "I wanted to do both challenges this month but have been so busy that I decided to combine them into one.

I decided to scrap these pictures of my son and my grandma who passed away in Dec.2008. She passed away just a few days before Christmas unexpectedly. She was my last grandparent to pass away and was only able to see my son twice. After she passed away I knew I wanted to scrap the only two pictures I had of her and my son. I printed extra copies but just couldn't get myself to scrap them, until now. Thank you Kathy for this challenge. I can look at these now and not get so sad about her being gone but be happy that she was able to hold my son!!
I loved Joni's layout and lifted most of it! I haven't used paint on a page in a long time so I tried that. I felt like it was a little messy but most got covered up! Thank Joni for the inspiration!
Now it's your turn - Submit your layout to scrappinpsycho@live.com.  You could be chosen to be a member of the December Design Team.  See all the details below in October Challenge or Pagerize This Challenge.

Pagerize Joni by Libeeti

Here is Design Team member Libeeti's take on Joni's layout for the Pagerize This Challenge.  She said, "From the fab lo Joni made, I took the theme of her (mine...) boy having fun at the seeside. I handcut the felt birdies and stamped the branch with acrylic paint (I love the different effect acrylic paint gives to stamping). The title says in Hebrew: "Free Like a Bird". I also used some glimmer mist, bandage colored with acrylic, and distressed the edges of the patterned paper.  Thank you for the inspiration.
Time is running out - the Pagerize This Challenge ends at midnight on the 12th.  See all the details in the post below.

Pagerize Joni by Denise

When I saw Joni's page on the Pagerize This Challenge, I couldn't wait to get started. I just loved the layout of her page. I had so much fun pulling out ALL kinds of stash to use on my layout. I used a mask and glimmer mist in the top left corner. I used many different inks on my tag and pulled out an old background stamp to decorate it. I've had the vellum quote for over a year so I was happy to pull it out and use it on the tag as well. I wrapped it around the tag and attached it on the back, so no adhesive would show.
I used something else on my layout that I haven't used in AGES. Chalks! The butterfly at the top of the page was originally white, so I chalked it up and used my IRock to adhere a couple of gems to it. I also chalked up the Tattered Angels letters SWEET which were originally cream color.
Finally I added a little sparkle (because I alway have to have some kind of sparkle on my pages) but added some copper Stickles to the Basic Grey paper and prima flowers.

Now it's your turn to take the Pagerize This Challenge. See all the details in the Pagerize This Challenge below.

Pagerize This Challenge

Rockin' Surfer by Joni is our 2nd Page to be "pagerized" in our  "Pagerizie This" Challenge.
Each month on the 15th we will post a new layout for you to "pagerize" (plagerize, copy, lift, steal) whatever term you want to use. The idea will be - to use the posted layout as your inspiration to create your own layout. You can "pagerize" as much or as little of the original layout as you choose. You may want to make a layout just like the one posted - or you may just want to use something about the layout as your inspiration. It's totally up to you.
Once you've completed your layout - email a picture and brief description to scrappinpsycho@live.com. All entries will be posted here at Scrap Our Stash.  The challenge runs through midnight central time on October 12th.  The "Pagerizer" (in this case Joni), will then choose a winner from all the entries.  The winner will be announced on October 13th. Then the winner will be asked to submit a layout for us to "Pagerize" starting on the 15th of October. Then on the 12th of November - the winner will be chosen by the winner of the "Pagerize This Challenge #3" and on and on it goes.

So your challenge - if you choose to accept it - is to use Joni's layout as your inspiration.

Winner Joni says:

"First let me say how honored I am to be amongst such great talent here on the SOS blog!!!  You guys ROCK!!!  So, I have a fun little layout for you to PAGERIZE....

This polka dot paper is Lily Bee and the Die Cut paper is Sasafrass Mix & Mend.
I used half of a die cut paper and painted the opposite side to give my photo a place to "rest" and tone down some of the print.
I Layered 3 different Bazzill Just the Edge borders.  Some fun little embellie clusters at the end of my borders.  My son came up with the title since he's ON a ROCK....funny little 6 year old!!...but BRILLANT, I thought!

So, use the design, colors, black & white photo, borders, ocean theme.....whatever inspires you from this fun little layout!!!  I can't wait to see what you come up with"!!

This challenge is in addition to the regular monthly challenge.

Pagerize Joni by Karen Williams

Posted by PicasaReader Karen Williams submitted her layout "The Boy with the Beautiful Eyes" for the Pagerize This Challenge.  She said,  "I loved this LO and tried my best to emulate the original. I took from the original the scalloped paper and the single photo. I tried the paint but failed! The photo is covering up the paint disaster!"

It's not too late for you to take the Pagerize This Challenge - see all the details below.

Pagerize Joni - by Christy

Here is  Design Team Member Christy's take on Joni's Pagerize This Challenge.   She said, "when I saw Joni's layout, the first thing I noticed was all of the wonderful paint. I love the look of it on a page. I loved her bold color and the way your eyes were drawn to the photo in the center. I chose also to use paint...though I was not as bold as she was. This is a page about a cup of cocoa. As silly as it is, my DS has always referred to hot cocoa as " a cup of Co". I realized I had never documented this cute saying of his when he asked me for a cup on a recent rainy day. He's 10 now, so there probably are not too many more years with cups of "co" in my future.

I used the white paint around the edges of the brown card stock because it reminded me of the frothy cocoa. I chose this October Afternoon paper because the browns reminded me of the cocoa while the blues were like the color of the rainy day in the photo. To get more out of my double sided patterned paper, I cut a window out of the center and glued a scrap piece of brown cardstock to the back.

I was then able to use some scraps with the polka dot pattern to create faux ribbon. I have some of the paper left over to use on the 2nd page when I come back to it later.
Now it's your turn to take the Pagerize This Challenge - see all the details below.

Pagerize This Challenge by Faye

Reader Faye submitted her version of Joni's layout for the Pagerize This Challenge. She said, "I loved Joni's Rockin' Surfer layout so I turned the lo on it's side and changed up the colors a little. I hope I did it justice. It is a picture of my godson and his dad... they are both too cute!!!"

Pagerize Joni by Stacy

I finally found a chance to do the "Pagerize This Challenge" of Rockin' Surfer by Joni.
I loved how Joni made it look so effortless and the layout was just so gorgeous!
I tend to be literal and I'm not good at distressing things . And making it look effortless is just not in me...so I struggled a little with this one.
I started and stopped and changed several times. And even threw some paper away after painting on it and thinking...yuck...LOL.  So, try to be kind...LOL

I used some paper from Pressed Petals that I got at Big Lots for super cheap. Unfortunately, I taped the other paper down before looking to see who it was from...sorry. It is just a paper I have had in my stash that seemed to look like it would work.
I started by spritzing the paper with some Smooch Spritz in a blue and then I painted some chipboard and added some bling with my
I-rock. (love that I-rock!!!) Do you have one and if so do you like it??
I cut the title work with my Cricut using my Speaking of Winter Cart. I chalked it with blue chalk and then used some crystal Stickles. Sparkle is your friend. Ha! There are a few Basic Grey Felties that I also stickled a bit.
So, what do you think?? There is still time for you to do this challenge, although the challenge does end on the 12th....so go get busy!!! Thanks for looking.  See Joni's challenge layout - and all the details on how to take the challenge at Pagerize This Challenge below.   And don't forget to do THAT Project for the October Challenge - see the details below.

Pagerize Joni with An Anniversary Card

Big shout out to Joni for winning the first "Pagerize" challenge. She gets bragging rights, next pagerize creator, and rights to pick the next winner. So come play along on Scrap Our Stash Challenges. The inspiration page that Joni has created is located here.

Isn't it cute? Things that struck me were:

So my Pagerize entry took some of those elements that I love, which, incidentally, are also out of my comfort zone. For example, my sentiments are always horizontal. I know - go ahead - call me boring ;)
  • Bright, fresh colors - orange and ocean blue/teal
  • polka dot paper
  • border punches
  • the fun sentiment placement (vertical & horizontal)

Happy Anniversary

I tried a twist on creating a banner, but instead of the cute triangles, I opted for little round circles. Here is hoping that there was enough adhesive to adhere them to the twine.

Happy Anniversary
If you haven't made your contribution to the second installment of the Pagerize This challenge, what are you waiting for? You have until October 12, 11:59p CES. You know how it goes -- the more the merrier! :)
