Happy Show N Tell Sunday! Here is Design Team Member Ange...

I started out with Scrap Our Stash as a reader submitting, a little more than a year ago. I love the challenges here and that there was a fun place encouraging us to use up our precious stash on even more precious layouts and projects.

This was my first project after being invited to join the DT here:

I still love looking at it. That little guy makes me smile even when he's getting into all kinds of trouble. I do have to admit that sometimes I wish he was a little less mobile now, more like in this photo where he was still crawling. They get into less then.

Not a lot has changed with me in the last year but I do feel like my life has gotten on a race track or something. My oldest is going to start high school this fall and we've had a crazy month busy with sports and many other activities already. Not sure I'm ready for high school.

In the scrapping area I have made my first manufacturing design team as a Moxxie Muse. I've been at it for a month and am thoroughly enjoying every minute. Here's is my project I turned in for consideration for the team:

Welcome to the Before and After edition of Show and Tell Sunday! I've completed a minor rearranging of my craft space to create a better work flow. Here are the results.

Before - my main work space had tools within easy reach, but most of my Slice stuff was stowed away and a pain to pull out in the middle of making a layout. A major creativity bummer, and an expensive tool was gathering dust. Unacceptable! 

After - not only are my must-have scrapping supplies and tools in this area, I relocated some items to make room for a.......

Slice Station - now everything is out and ready to go! Just looking at this new work station is inspiring me. I've used it already and it's so much easier.

Before - embellishments sorted by color and stored in ten containers, mostly leftover odds and ends from kits. Lots of fun to look at, but not getting much use. I think in color, but tend to look for embellishments by type or size. It's just time to admit that. 

After - a seriously paired down embellishment center, no longer sorted by color (gasp). Ten containers reduced to six!

Disclaimer: these are not ALL the embellishments in my stash. Not even close. I scrap by manufacturer and keep coordinating embellishments with the paper line.

Pairing down and re-grouping my embellishments freed up four containers for my stamp sets! Now I don't have to get up and rummage around my scrap room to find a stamp for a layout or card. I'm reaching for these more often.

Before - three containers filled with leftover brads, buttons, odds and ends that I rarely used. Again, they look good but most of these are pretty old and just don't fit the way I'm scrapping these days.

After - down to one container of buttons I will use!

Before - bulletin board used as inspiration and ideas for layouts. Looks good, but I was constantly re-working this space more than I was using it. Most of these pages eventually ended up in the trash.

After - bulletin board is now used to hang scrap paper, lists of what I want to scrap, how-to articles. It's more of an information center, right above my main work area.

Ideas from magazines, sketches and design inspiration now have a separate station at the end of my L-shaped desk and on my bookshelf that you can see in the background. Close to my main space, but not in the way. Have you done any tweaking to your craft space lately?

  This is my first year participating in LOAD211(aka Layout a Day 2011). The theme this year is to find inspiration. On our challenge for day two, we were asked to go onto eBay and to do a web search for our name(or the name of a loved one). Then choose something on page one that inspired you to make a page.It was something I never thought to try before. I honestly did not expect much to appear with my name in it. However, a variety of novels and DVD's appeared. I settled for the cover of an Agatha Christie DVD. I could envision it as a sketch for some of my photos.

Show N' Tell Sunday-Homemade Clip it Up

Today I thought that I would share this video about the homemade Clip It Up that DH and I made. I wanted to buy a Clip It Up, but they are way too expensive. I searched on YouTube for some videos, but didn't really find what I wanted. After talking with hubby about it, we came up with this!! I love it and there are pictures of my scrap room on my blog, and you can see that I have it full!! And we made it for under $10!! Even better!!

Here is my reality right now! This is just the stuff - we took out of the van after our unexpected trip to Wisconsin. This is just a glimpse of what my house looks like right now. If you really want to be frightened go to my blog. I have a Guest DT project (several layouts) due to Scrap A Little and I'm hosting a Scrapbook Retreat starting Wednesday evening - SOOOOOOOOOOO needless to say - I need to get back in the swing of things!

My Toy Story tree - as you can tell this is the tree the kids get to decorate.  You can also see how tall they are - seems how all the toys are at the same level - all in a line! 

I love that the kids are able to decorate - and play with the ornaments on this tree.  It gets re-decorated almost daily!

New Design Team Member Sara had planned on sharing pictures of her moving boxes - but... her sweet husband  was trying to pack for her and help out  and packed her camera up with all her pics on it!   So she sent this picture that she said, "pretty much sums up my mornings for the past few days before packing."

New Design Team Member Tammy attached pics of some cookie canisters she made for her youngest daughter's preschool teacher and teacher's aide, filled with homemade cookies (you can see the Rudolph cookies too, yum!) She used the large paint cans by Stampendous and covered them with papers from Jillibean Soup's Christmas Chestnut Soup collection,  she also used some Bazzill cardstock. The gingerbread men are from the Quickutz Gingerbread border die.

Show and Tell Sunday -Quick Grid Layouts by Christy

I think anyone who scrapbooks laments that there is never enough time to get every photo scrapped and in an album. Couple that with how hectic the holidays can become as we rush to bake treats and pull off holiday magic. It can make you get cranky. So this month, I carved out a little time for me and made some quick pages. They are not the heavily embellished, "tons of thought poured into them" type of pages I often do. Yet, they both give me the satisfaction of a page done and they have visual appeal. I always enjoy seeing my pages finished and then getting to show them off to my husband.

   This page is actually the right side of the two page layout. I used the Crate Paper North Pole Collection. It was nice to have all the paper and Embellishments right there ready to go. The grid pattern while simplistic, is appealing to the eye. The small chipboard circle says " Oh Christmas tree on it." I thought it was perfect for the photo of the trimmed tree. Note the direction of striped paper going in a on this page. It's placed so the stripes go downward. On left hand page, the stripes flow horizontally.

That coupled with all of the photos of my son facing toward the left draw the eye down and across the page. When completing quick pages, try to keep it simple and don't let yourself get caught up in the paper and embellishment selection. Just go with what you have. Over time, you'll get more relaxed about your selections and will find you have a lot more layouts done.

We were able to go to "Main Street Bethlehem" tonight. The line was long - but well worth it. Niko is just the right age for this - and took it all in like a sponge. He gave money to the begger, and attempted to pay bail for those that were in jail.  He was quite sad when the jailer refused his coins - not recognizing them. 

It was a great experience and really helped remind us that "Jesus is the Reason for the Season".

This project was for my blog's 25 Days of {homemade} Christmas gifts. I saw a similar set of wooden blocks at a store for about $15. I made these for free since I was able to raid my hubbys scrap wood stash! I made the word JOY since I had three blocks, but you could do anything, Welcome, a last name, or a baby's name for their room!
For this project I used;

wood blocks
scrapbook paper and trimmer
Modge Podge
Cricut letters
Martha Stewart branch punch
acrylic craft paint and brush
sandpaper

Start by making sure your blocks are smooth. Use your sandpaper to round off the edges. When you are done, paint your blocks. I didn't paint where my paper is going to be just to save time and paint.



Cut your scrapbook paper to fit your blocks. You can always just paint the entire block instead of using paper. I used a corner punch to round off the edges. Use Modge Podge to glue your paper to the blocks.




Decorate your blocks. I used my Cricut Storybook cartridge to cut out these letters. I also added some branches punched out using the Martha Stewart branch punch.



You don't have to make all the blocks the same. You can alter between two or three designs. Or make them all different! Just make it your own way!

And to think I cleaned the kitchen up today for THIS!
Our annual cookie baking! The fact that all three of the kids are a year older made quite a difference this year. They all three stayed on task until the very end! Maddie would still be rolling the play dogh - or frosting and re-frosting her cookies.  The only way we could get her to stop was for her to eat the cookies! 

It was a lot of fun - but what a mess!  I love traditions and this time of year!

Design Team Member Christy said, "I just finished these pages. I had to make them right away after having such a wonderful experience. My son is getting to the age where he is beginning to not believe. That all changed with our recent trip to meet Santa. When we walked up on the platform, Santa greeted my son by name opened his arms wide and gave him a hug. We were both shocked! Next, Santa talked with my son about how our pets were doing. Somehow, this Santa knew all about our 2 cats and 1 dog. When we walked off the platform, I even felt like we had met the real Santa Claus. It was an amazing experience! My son told his dad he believes and I am pretty sure I do too!

So does he look like the real deal or what!?!

I Remember back in elementary school when we had Show N' Tell.  It was always a day I looked forward to.  So why not do the same here. 
 
Every Sunday will be SHOW N' TELL SUNDAY - and will be a forum where you can share anything you want to Show N' Tell. For example a layout you've completed that you'd like to share - but it doesn't fit into the challenges, or maybe a new technique you've tried and want to share, a new purchase, a great bargain, a great picture you've taken, a link to a great blog, a special accomplishment in your life. Anything that you'd like to share. It will be open to anyone who wants to share.  Just email me a picture (if possible) and a description to scrappinpsycho@live.com.   - I'll collect the submissions throughout the week - and then post them on Sunday.

I do retain the right to edit or not include any submissions I deem inapporpriate for this forum.

 My friends and I had a scrapping Garage Sale today.  I made almost $200 - and still have lots of STASH left. 

It was a lot of fun - but a lot of work.  Now I have to find a home for everything until the next sale.
