May Flower Challenge by Colleen

Reader Colleen submitted this layout for the May Flower Challenge. She said:

I made the background using paint and a comb and a punch for the borders. The flowers are made from triangles, just folded and glued in place.

This was a challenge I created for Sisterhood of Scrap where you could use ONLY scissors in place of cutting shears, a punch instead of a hoe and a comb instead of a rake. It was a fun challenge and I loved making the flowers. Thanks for looking.

May Flower Challenge by Christy

As you may remember, earlier this month, I completed the flower challenge with some unusual flowers on a Halloween Layout.  I am a bit flower challenged because I mainly scrap my son and my husband. So, I get a bit creative when it comes to certain embellishments. Anyhow, I just had to share this flower page I just made. After all, it's such a fun thing to break out of the usual mold for me with a little pink, some flowers and butterflies.

Pencil lines sketch 238
viva pink glimmer mist
Spun Sugar smooch spray
mask by Crafter's Workshop
Paper, brads, stickers, and chipboard from Crate Paper's pink Plum collection
wire for the antennae
Making Memories noteworthy alphas

P.S. if you peek closely at the butterflies, their antennae are made with wire which I hand curled and adhered with glossy accents.

May Flower Challenge by Ren-Yi

The irony with flowers is, I love them a lot. But they don't appear in any of my projects, unless I stamp them, or create them from scratch by abusing my balloon die...so, what's really going on?

Feel Better

Thankfully, Kathy tasked us to use flowers from our stash. I have plenty and am not sure I made a noticeable dent...but it looks like a cute bouquet.

Feel Better

Well, I would love to hear inspiration on how you use your flowers. I could use a few inspiration pointers. And who knows, maybe I'll send a random commenter on this blog post a random assortment of flowers ;)

So, come join in on our
Scrap Our Stash's May challenge. You have a few more days to enter - and there is a long weekend ahead :)

May Flower Challenge by Lisa

Reader Lisa submitted yet another project for the May Flower Challenge. She said:

Hi ,
It's me again , I have been having so much fun doing projects with what I have laying around. This is the latest. I had these adorable photos of my granddaughter at my youngest daughter's wedding,( this was the first time she met a little one like her, it was the groom's nephew). I suddenly became inspired by this older paper I had from kaisercraft. I also used the new die from Die-namics to make the flowers. It's amazing what you can do with distress inks and white cardstock. Hope you like it.

May Challenge by Wendy K.

Honestly, I have more flowers in my stash than I know what to do with. Lucky for me I have 3 girls! I use flowers on so many of my pages that this challenge should have been a breeze. So why was I so stumped? Because I didn't want to do just anything, I wanted it to be something different. We bought $1 flip flops the other day at Michael's (yeah, we'll see how long they last!) and Christine wanted to decorate hers. So what did we add but flowers of course! Here they are:See all the details HERE!

In this layout I actually used photos of myself (how often do we scrappers do that??) I am dating myself because they are from my high school graduation! I used Bazzill cardstock, Bo Bunny patterned paper, American Crafts Thickers, and misc. flowers and pearls from my stash. Don't you just love that 1980's hairstyle? I couldn't figure out how to do a Madonna-do with that cap on, which might actually be a good thing!

May Flower Challenge by Maggie

Reader Maggie submitted this layout for the May Flower Challenge.  She said:

Some of the flowers on this layout are handmade, some are really old from my stash, and the sunflowers are new. I loved doing a fall themed LO with lots and lots of flowers!

This is a picture I took in 1997 of a grizzly bear fattening up on berries for the coming winter. I took these pictures in September on a beautiful fall day. In September, winter is just around the corner and it can snow any day. In fact, I have been at Denali in September when there was snow on the ground.

I used the May sketch at Dusty Attic for this layout.

May Flower Challenge by Ange

Reader Ange submitted this layout for the May Flower Challenge. She said:

This lo is about how fast my kids are growing, kind of. lol My oldest is helping my youngest with his first local Easter egg hunt because she's now too old to participate. It's a bit of a bittersweet thing. But I just loved how this photo turned out and really wanted it to shine on my lo. So I used sketch #162 from Nuts About Sketches: http://nutsaboutsketches.blogspot.com/ This Making Memories kit has been in my stash for at least a year. I cut the flowers out of the background paper and pop-dotted them for decoration. Then added some other embellies from the kit.

Thanks for the great challenge!

May's Flower Challenge by Missy

Design Team member Missy submitted this layout for the May Flower Challenge.  She said:

Here is my layout for the May Flower Challenge. I used up a few of my printed paper scraps as the background. I originally made this layout to submit in another challenge for National Scrapbook Day. (The original layout can be seen on my blog .)I really liked the layout, but the subject was not about something that I wanted to put in my scrapbook, (what would you do if you won the lottery). So I took it apart and re-worked it with the picture of me and my twins at their pre-schools Mother's Day Brunch. I will definately add this on to my scrapbook!

I made the crepe paper flower white and then sprayed it with my lime green glimmer mist.
I was also able to use up some flowers, pins, and brads that I had gotten in some swaps!

I have a ton of flowers in my stash and love using them, so this challenge was a treat. This is just a candid photo of my oldest daughter last 4th of July waiting for the fireworks to begin, her sneaky older brother is giving her bunny ears in this picture, she has no idea! In this layout I used Bazzill cardstock, patterned paper and cardstock stickers from Adorn It--Carolee Creations, flowers by Kaiser Craft and Making Memories, and a rhinestone flower and pearls from my stash. May Flowers Challenge - Stacy H-W

Hello everyone,
Here is the card I made for the May Flower Challenge.
I recently received this adorably sweet S.W.A.L.K stamp set, Old Friend. And I thought it would be perfect for the flower challenge.
I just love the sentiment and how perfectly it works with the image.
I made the card with scraps and ribbon from my stash. I colored the image with my watercolor pencils.
Then, I finished it off with a couple of tiny Prima Sculpture Flowers.
So there you go, my May Flower Challenge creation. Now let's see yours!!Details HERE!

May Flower Challenge by Colleen

Reader Colleen submitted this layout for the May Flower Challenge. She said:

This Easter layout was a photo that was taken this year. Very seldom do I get all my grandchildren together for holidays and this was my first for Easter. I used 2 sided paper and made the flowers from a sizzix die, just layering them, inking the edges and turning the paper over for some different colors. Thanks for looking.

Here is my entry for the May flowers challenge. I have quite a collection of paper flowers as well as prima and unfortunately, sometimes I don't use the paper flowers as often as I should! I saw this "circle of flowers" idea on another blog and decided to scraplift it.

Thanks!

May Flower Challenge by Mary Pat

Hello everyone,
It is me Mary Pat with the May challenge.  First I have to say that this was THE hardest challenge for me.  Why??? because I don't have ONE single flower in my stash.  Yup that is right I don't have any.  I used to have some prima flowers when they were really popular about 6 years ago but I got rid of them in a garage sale.  I don't scrap with flowers.  I have 2 boys and I don't use them.  Soooooo I had to come up with something and I was scrapping a picture of my son and I was using the Echo Park's Playground line and I came across a sticker with 3 little flowers on it.  I knew immediately that these were the flowers I was going to use--but how? So I came up with this card.

I am really happy with how it turned out.  Love all the different colors and I love how it turned out.  Thanks Kathy for another great challenge.  You really made me step out of my comfort zone.  If you would like to see more click HERE

May Flower Challenge by Debbie

Reader Debbie submitted this layout for the May Flower Challenge. She said:

Here is a layout I did the other night and I just love it - in fact I'm going to have it framed and give it to the married couple on their 6th anniversary this year in July. I used DCVW -Lace and Linen paper stack and several Cricut cuts and doilys scattered in the background. Then I went through my flower stash and used some older paper flowers and left them white and some embossed paper flowers - which I inked with Old Paper distressed ink and then some small silk like wedding flowers that I put in the middle of my hand crocheted doily flowers. Other embellies used were ribbon, pearls on a strand, 1/2 pearls for flower centers, metal heart buttons, some really old discolored buttons, cream thread, 2 jewelry shell pieces, prism stickers and Diamond Stickles.

I really like the sketch over at Creative Scrappers this week and this black and white photo of the married couple I thought worked great cut up in 3 sections. This is my take or layout for the May flower challenge this month- I just love the challenges you have here and look forward to seeing all the great works everyone comes up with daily.

May Flower Challenge by Wendy C.

Future Guest Design Team Member Wendy C. submitted this layout for the May Flower Challenge. She said:

These were all miscellaneous papers from the scrap box. The flowers are also from "The Drawer of a Million Flowers I Will Probably Never Use Up". Yesterday I was able to get out and take some Spring pictures with my daughter, but of course, they are still on the camera. So I decided it had to be the tropical flowers instead of spring.
My proudest achievement was the title. I used a set of Thickers letters. I was down to the bare minimum and was able to cut, chop, slice, and piece together all the right letters. I used up quite a few numbers and "q"'s and "j"'s.
