Pagerize Helena by Joni

I really liked the "feel" of Helena's layout, so I also used some paper that was solid, but distressed (Basic Grey).  I also liked the background stamp concept, so I used that and then added some doodles to the stamped image to match my photo.  I also wanted to keep the "grungy" feel I was headed for, so I framed the area with a metal chain (I stitched it on using clear nylon string....that took a long time).  I hung a couple embellishments from the chain to add interest.


This was my son allowing me to use his back as my canvas to practice my first attempt at a henna tattoo!

When I was a child, I learned my times tables by rote memorization. I recall hating it! While it did work for me, when it came time to homeschool my son, rote memorization was just not his way. He is always in motion, constantly chattering and just seems to need to "do" to learn. So we opted for some multiplication games. I think maybe it takes him a little longer this way than if I made him sit down and memorize everything. Then again, maybe not, because he'd fight me the whole way. Either way, we are having a ton more fun together. I documented it with this page. We are playing multiplication UNO. It's the same as regular UNO only you choose a multiple and work through it as you play. For example, every number card you draw is multiplied by 3. So if you  play a four then you multiply it by three. When we first start out, my son gets to use a chart. As we advance, the chart goes away. He sees the problem, hears the problem and says the problem and his hands are active. It's a win- win scenario!


Pagerize this Scraplift #8- of Helena

White acrylic paint with doodled black pen made a great border for this page. I then cut some K & Co. ticket style border strips apart and used scraps of Sasafrass and crate paper as accents. The brown ribbon is unknown. The scallop was a scrap of a crate paper border. I inked a Sassafrass paper whimsy card. It reminded me of the symbol for multiplying. I added some patina glimmer mist for some fun flair

Here is my entry for the pagerize challenge. I loved the muted colours of Helena's LO and the vertical embellishment provided by the felt /lace so that's what I used for my Lo. I also stole the idea of the tag at the bottom of the picture.

This LO is my Grandfather on a beach somewhere- dressed in shirt, cardigan and jacket even though it must have been warm. i love that it is a very candid shot of him- no posing- I imagine he is reading the horse racing news in the newspaper.

Pagerize This # 8 by Helena

Helena's So Much Alike is our 8th layout to be pagerized in our "Pagerize This Challenge. Helena was chosen by Joni as the winner of the Pagerize This Challenge #7.

When Helena found out she was chosen as winner she said: I was surprised and very happy to hear that I had won Joni's challenge.
I chose this layout for all of you to pagerize. It's one of the recent ones I've done. I hope you have fun with it.


Each month on the 15th we will post a new layout for you to "pagerize" (plagerize, copy, lift, steal) whatever term you want to use. The idea will be - to use the posted layout as your inspiration to create your own layout. You can "pagerize" as much or as little of the original layout as you choose. You may want to make a layout just like the one posted - or you may just want to use something about the layout as your inspiration. It's totally up to you.

Once you've completed your layout - email a picture and brief description to scrappinpsycho@live.com. All entries will be posted here at Scrap Our Stash. The challenge runs through midnight central time on April 12th. The "Pagerizer" (in this case Helena), will then choose a winner from all the entries. The winner will be announced on April 14th. Then the winner will be asked to submit a layout for us to "Pagerize" starting on the 15th of April. Then on the 12th of May - the winner will be chosen by the winner of the "Pagerize This Challenge # 8" and on and on it goes.
