January NEW Challenge by Karen W.

Design Team Member Karen W. submitted this layout for the January New Challenge. She said:

This challenge was an easy one for me- my sister had a baby in October so this was the perfect opportunity to scrap another photo of the NEW little one.

Recently we went on a family visit to see my sister and the baby and my three were just so excited and desperate to give her a cuddle- at the end of the day I got this photo of Stanley and Arthur almost fighting to get her on their lap and Nancy reaching in for good measure- poor little one was none to pleased as you can see.

Now it's your turn to take the January NEW Challenge. The January Challenge is anything doing with NEW - it could be a new tool, a new product, a new technique, or the project could have somehing to do with NEW - like New Years Eve - Our New Home, etc!. Anything goes! Have fun sharing something NEW with us.To participate in the January NEW Challenge - just email a picture of your project along with a description to Scrappinpsycho@live.com

All submissions will be posted to The Scrap Our Stash blog and on January 31st a winner will be chosen, and given the opportunity to be a Guest Design Team Member for the month of March. This challenge ends at midnight central time January 31st.

October Quote Challenge by Karen

Design Team Member Karen submitted this layout for the October Quote challenge.  She said:

Unlike Sue I am not a collector of quotes- I don't think I've ever come across a quote that i thought I'd like to remember- so when this challenge came along I was totally stumped- I googled quotes but there were just too many.  After reading half a dozen that were too sweet, I gave up.
Pinterest finally came to my rescue with this beauty "I love pictures because the best thing about them is they never change even when the people in them do"- What a great quote to use on pitures of my little boy when he was just a baby. ( he's 6 now)

September Grid Challenge by Karen

Design Team Member Karen submitted this Layout for the September Grid Challenge.  She said:

This LO was so super quick for me- I cut out the 10x10 background and then used some scraps to make 3x3 squares- I didn't have enough to fill all nine but then again I wanted to show off the yellow zig zag paper underneath and have a space for a title.  Anyway thanks for looking

Pagerize Wendy C. by Karen

Design Team Member Karen submitted this layout for The Pagerize This Challenge # 14.  She said:

Here is my version of the pagerize challenge
I decided to lift the LO of the LO (if you see what I mean)
i also decided to make my own background paper ( based on a very old piece of paper I used recently - you can find it here.  The old paper had a stitched effect on it- so I made one of my own.

The LO is about our last night in the Netherlands before we moved back to the UK- its a group photo of us around a light in the ground in Utrecht after our last evening meal out.

Pagerize This Challenge # 9

Karen's Nemo is our 9th layout to be pagerized in our "Pagerize This Challenge" Karen was chosen by Helena as the winner of the Pagerize This Challenge # 8.

Karen said:  I chose this LO because I love the bright colours and the summer feel.

I also thought there were lots of elements to Pagerize.

The LO is about our trip last summer to the Nemo Science center in Amsterdam and I used the tickets from the day as a design feature as they were so cool.  I'm hoping that Pagerizers will use some mementos or ephemera on their LO.

Each month on the 15th we will post a new layout for you to "pagerize" (plagerize, copy, lift, steal) whatever term you want to use. The idea will be - to use the posted layout as your inspiration to create your own layout. You can "pagerize" as much or as little of the original layout as you choose. You may want to make a layout just like the one posted - or you may just want to use something about the layout as your inspiration. It's totally up to you.

Once you've completed your layout - email a picture and brief description to scrappinpsycho@live.com.  All entries will be posted here at Scrap Our Stash. The challenge runs through midnight central time on May 12th. The "Pagerizer" (in this case Karen), will then choose a winner from all the entries. The winner will be announced on May 14th. Then the winner will be asked to submit a layout for us to "Pagerize" starting on the 15th of May.
Now it's your turn to take the Pagerize This Challenge # 9.

Pagerize Helena by Karen

Design Team Member Karen submitted this layout for the Pagerize This Challenge.  She said:

Here is my entry for the pagerize challenge. I loved the muted colours of Helena's LO and the vertical embellishment provided by the felt /lace so that's what I used for my Lo. I also stole the idea of the tag at the bottom of the picture.

This LO is my Grandfather on a beach somewhere- dressed in shirt, cardigan and jacket even though it must have been warm. i love that it is a very candid shot of him- no posing- I imagine he is reading the horse racing news in the newspaper.

March Dust it Off Challenge by Karen

Design Team Member Karen submitted this layout for the March Dust it Off Challenge.  She said:

Hi! As promised a LO with a hand cut title. My first thought when I heard the challenge for this month was- what am I going to do?  All the other ladies seemed to have various machinery they could dust off and use again but, I have never bought any machinery accept my sewing machine, which I use regularly. I thought about using some of my old stash but it didn't seem very exciting so instead I went for a technique I used to use all the time when I started scrapbooking.  I had a collection of fonts on my computer that I downloaded from free sites and I would print out the titles for my LOs in whatever size I wanted and then trace them onto patterned paper and cut them out (tracing rather than printing directly onto the paper was a bit more economical with the patterned paper).  Anyway it has been such a long time since I did this. We had updated our computer and all the fonts had been lost, so I had to download a few again. The font I chose to use was called Bounty and I printed the title off at font size 200! To update the look a bit I decided to overlap the letters and stitch through them. Hope you like it.

February Challenge by Karen

Design Team Member Karen submitted this layout for the February Love Challenge.  She said:

Is it bad that I am fast approaching my twelfth wedding anniversary and I still haven't scrapped a single one of my wedding photos? I thought about it for this challenge and then couldn't find any of my photos ( it was the the time before digital) so instead I have a LO about my daughter called "Love at first sight" I have used a Hambly doily paper for this LO - I have a bit of a love hate relationship with Hambly products- I love their papers but becaused they are so hard to get my hands on over here I hate using them! So it is a rare occurrence to see one of my LOs using Hambly.  Back to the LO- these are the first few photos of Nancy after her birth- it is her fourth birthday in February then she starts school- time flies so quickly.

Now it's your turn to take the February Love Challenge.  See all the details HERE!

Meet Design Team Member Karen

Hi!  My name is Karen Williams and
I am a 36 year old mother of three who has been scrapbooking since the birth of my daughter three and half years ago ( Nancy thinks the half is very important). Originally from the UK, I am currently living in the Netherlands, hence my new found SAHM status, ( In the UK I was a teacher). I like simple scrapping, half an hour is my average time on a LO, and with three children in the house you can understand why. I set myself the challenge of making 365 LOs this year, I stopped count a month ago when I got to 370!
I love chocolate, pizza boxes from the postman, day trips to Amsterdam, shoes, crime novels, knitting, CSI on TV, baking, taking photographs, Strictly Come Dancing/dancing with the Stars, scrapbooking of course, and the spring.

I hate talking about myself, bananas, dentists, taking my children for jabs, having my hair cut, bananas, that I still bite my nails, and my oven. ( the oven is a long story) (yes bananas is in there twice- I really hate bananas - another long story)

the butterfly is from a pair of earrings-£2 a pair and each
earring had 9 butterflies.

Do you have a frugal tip to share.  Just send it along with a picture to scrappinpsycho@live.com.  Your tip could be featured as a future Frugal Friday Tip.

January challenge by Karen

I know the challenge is to do something new, but I am always way behind the times with scrapbooking trends! I have very recently bought my first two bottles of misters and have used one of these for my "new" LO.  Anyway, I used the frame from some old chipboard letters and misted through to make an alphabet background paper which I thought went really well with my son's school photo from this year.

Now it's your turn to take the January New Challenge.  See all the details HERE.

This photo was taken on a visit to my Nan, we took her out for lunch in the pub even though she did't want to go, she was struggling to walk that day. We went outside for photos before we left. October Challenge by Karen Williams

Reader Karen Williams submitted her layout "The gathering storm" for the October THAT Project Challenge.  She said, "when my Nan went into the hospital it was soon clear she wasn't coming home.  She was paralysed by the tumour on her spine and they could do nothing about it. It got harder to get her out of bed and outside the hospital.  I remember one day in August when we managed to get her outside into the hospital garden. We could hear the storm approaching, the sky darkening and the rain coming. We wanted to take her back in, But she made us wait until it rained. She wanted to feel it on her face for one last time.
Now it's your turn to take the THAT project challenge.  See all the details in the October Challenge below. And don't miss our Pagerize This Challenge - details are below.
