April SPRING FLING Challenge by Nathalie

Design Team Member Nathalie submitted this layout for the April SPING FLING Challenge. She said:

I thought about submitting this mini and card for the Spring Fling challenge but was not sure it would fit perfectly... you decide! (Seems perfect to me - Kathy)

I created this card and mini album for a friend of mine who just had a baby girl. I used the April kit from Burlap & Buttercups which had gorgeous Spring colors! I also used this tutorial found through Pinterest(http://poppypaperie.typepad.com/poppy_paperie/2010/10/mini-fold-book.html) to build the mini album. Welcome to all the Spring babies! :)

February LEAP Challenge by Jean

Guest Design Team Member Jean submitted this project for the February LEAP Challenge.  She said:

I’ve been promising myself I would document my Christian journey and Confirmation and finally had the inspiration to do it when Kathy over at SOS asked me to be Guest Designer for February. Our word this month (as it’s leap year) is to create something around the word LEAP. I had saved a little advertising booklet, (I save them all as they make the basis for great mini books.) This one was from a Garden Centre and was a perfect A4 folded size.

I measured, cut and covered a sheet of cardboard to wrap around the booklet, making sure I made it ¼ “ bigger all round. I used the Basic Grey Indian Summer papers as I love their rich colours and detailed patterns.

I used the die-cut stickers from the pack to arrange a small scene on white gloss paper (a cut off from printing a photo) I fussy cut around the edge of the scene then backed it with black paper and cut around that too. I cut a heart from some corrugated card and coloured it with Dylusions spray ink in worn leather.

I arranged the die-cut words LEAP and FAITH onto some black gloss card, cut them and stuck on the front page together with the other words. All the letters were from the diecut sticker sheet with the pack. I used a piece of handmade embroidered tissue to decorate the fold. A piece of wide ribbon was sandwiched between the front cover pages.

The inside pages of the book were then covered with a selection of papers which echoed the colours in the front paper.

I shall enjoy adding all my documents and shall be writing about my journey on some of the pages.

I hope you like it and gain some inspiration for your own project.

Regards Jean

February LEAP Challenge by Debbie P.

Design Team member Debbie P. submitted this project for the February LEAP Challenge. She said:

I took a big leap with my project this month. I decided to make my own mini book using my Cinch for the first time. We won a trip to Las Vegas back in November of 2011, and I took a ton of photos as you can imagine. I figured doing a mini book was better than doing several layouts, since I had only one or two photos of each casino. Here is my cover, and three of my double page 8 X 8 layouts. You can see more of the album on my blog at http://www.dpiercey.blogspot.com/.

Now it's your turn to take the February LEAP Challenge. The February Challenge is anything to do with LEAP - it could be a Leap you've taken in buying or using a new tool, a new product, a new technique, or your project could have somehing to do with your taking a leap. August Re-do Challenge by Wendy K.

Design Team Member Wendy K. submitted this project for the August Re-Do Challenge.  She said:

When I found out the theme for this month I thought I was in trouble. I am not one to go back and re-do any of my layouts. I'm just glad they got done in the first place! I decided to "do" a 10-Year album like the one I had made for my first child for my second 10-year-old. Let me tell you it was much easier the second time around! Here is the outcome:

You can see the entire album with details and my first album on My Scrapbooking Blog.

December Challenge by Kimmarie

Posted by PicasaHi  Design Team Member Kimmarie here! I have been MIA for quite some time now and I missed everyone and SOS. I am now back in full crafting swing and I am looking forward to monthly challenges once again. Today I am sharing a few pages from a clear mini album that I made for my daughter's 7th birthday. I am usually the type of person that does not always like the way my projects turn out. This one is an exception. I was so happy with the way the pages look with the paper, embellies and paint showing through on both sides. This album was super easy and a bunch of fun to create. If you have never done a clear album before, get one and get busy.... I promise you will love it!

Now it's your turn to take the Birthday Challenge - see all the details Here. Also, don't miss our Pagerize This Challenge details Here.

September Challenge by Monica

For our September challenge Guest Design Team Member Monica  decided to share some baby pages she made for a recent baby book. She said, "I enjoy making these baby books for friends as gifts. They take a lot of work and I thought about not making them but I just can't seem not to! It is also a great way for me to use my stash!!! I usually make an 8x8 album with some pages for when the baby first arrives and then one page per month after that. I also try to include some first holidays! So I am sharing a few of the pages that included punches. I will post some other pages from the album on my blog if your interested.

I left this one for mom to fill in with some type of Christmas photo.
Hope you enjoyed these!! It's not to late to play along!"  See all the details of how you can play along with the challenge in the September Challenge post below.

Meet our Guest Design Team Member -Wendy

10 Years of You

Wendy was chosen to be a Guest Design Team Member for the month of March. Here is what she told us about herself:

I started scrapbooking one July 4th. I took out a box of stuff that I had collected and dove in. By the end of the month I had completed a 0-2 book for my daughter. Since then I have been a scrappin' addict and love every minute of it! I also enjoy cardmaking and altering. I have been a Close to My Heart consultant for 3 years now and I enjoy sharing my passion with others.

On a personal note I have been a SAHM for the last 10 years and married for 13 years. This year I started stubstitute teaching. I am an active volunteer in PTA and Girl Scouts. Aside from crafting I also enjoy volleyball, reading, cross-stitch, puzzles, online games, and board games.

The project I would like to share ties in perfectly with the February 10 Challenge. I made this mini album for my daughter to celebrate her first 10 years. It's called 10 Years of You. You can see all the details here or you can also visit my blog

We can't wait to see what Wendy will contribute to our March Challenge. Be sure and come back on March 1st for the Challenge announcement.

She is one of those people who gets the winter blues, so Barbara thought this might keep her spirits up a little bit. She used lots of oldie stash stuff, including papers and embellishments purchased from the Target dollar bins AT LEAST a year ago. She was so happy to put all of that stuff to good use!

It's not too late to get your entries in - Deadline is midnight tonight. See all the details in Special Valentine Challenge below.

Make sure to come back tomorrow to see which of the projects have been chosen to be in the contest.

January Challenge - Joni

Acrylic Album by Joni
After I took these photos of my son on a "wall of graffiti", I knew they'd look really cool in an acrylic album where I could "show through and share backgrounds". But in my illustrious stash of mini-books, I did not have an acrylic book that suited my needs. So, I just did nothing with my idea (except whine to my husband, I guess...lol!).

For Christmas, he had stopped by the local scrapbook store and bought me a few things, including 12x12 sheets of ACRYLIC!!! (thinner than regular acrylic books, but thicker than a transparancy). They were around $2 per sheet, I think.

I used one and cut it to 12x6 to make the 2 inner pages for my book and just used deco scissors on the edge. I used Chipboard scraps for the 6x12 back cover and smaller front cover. I used LOTS of rub-ons and transparancies. Also, notice the "swirl" on the first acrylic page (at the top)? It's an acrylic stamp...dh bought it for me too (it was only $1, so I figured that's about the normal price of an embellishment anyways, right?).

On the acrylic pages the photos are back to back (so one photo is directly behind the photo on the front that you can see). Joni has more details on her blog.

Now it's your turn to show us what you have created with your Christmas Gift - see the details below in January Christmas Gift Challenge.

Mini Album by Kimmarie

Posted by Picasa
Kimmarie said she was so happy when she was told that the January Challenge was to use something she got for Christmas.

She got the DCWV Christmas paper pack from her girls last year. Over the year she has made holiday layouts and ornaments that she handed out for gifts this year. She learned how to make this mini album from her cousin Kelly. After that she was hooked! Recently she worked a vendor fair and made a bunch of mini pop out albums. A woman requested her to make one for Baby's First Christmas and she wanted it red, white and green. Kimmarie knew right away what paper she would use. The problem was finding embellishments that were for Baby's Frist Christmas (also the woman didn't want too much inside so they had more room for pictures). Kimmarie's local stores didn't have anything for Baby's First Christmas so, she used her Cricut and cut out some words and used some embellies.

Kimmarie plans to make a tutorial on how to make one of these fun pop out mini albums check back later for more details.

Now it's your turn - send your Christmas Gift project today. See all the details in the January Christmas Gift Challenge post below. Can't wait to see what "Santa" brought you - and how you scrapped it!
