Stephanie's "Love"-ly February Challenge

Cover of the "I love you!" book

You try new things, and get an award!
I've been working on a project for weeks that I'm very excited to share with you! For Valentine's Day I made my dear hubby a book called "10 reasons why I love you" and I'm sharing my favorite pages here!
The cover is two sheets of cardstock attached to a piece of chipboard. Before attaching the white paper, I used red tape around the edges of the chipboard and adhered the red ribbon to make a nice edge. The heart stamp is from Waltzingmouse Stamps and the letters are from my stash.

You love me! My favorite page!
I used the biggest die in the Spellbinders Label 1 nestabilities set to make the pages. I then used the smallest die to create a cut out to highlight a word and highlight some love themed patterned paper. This is the first book I've ever made by cutting the pages out and I like the way it turned out! For the "You try new things" page, I tried to make it look like he was getting an award for being so adventurous. (I tried to make the page match the saying.) And for the "You love me" page, I figured that was awesome enough to stand on it's own! (I'll be featuring all 10 pages, his card, cake, and a sweet little surprise on my blog. Think of it as the 14 days of Valentine's!)
What are you doing to show off love for the February Challenge? The whole month's ahead of you, won't you play along with us?

February Challenge

The February Challenge is to do a LOVE project. This can be a layout, card, or any kind of project having to do with LOVE. You may want to use the word LOVE in your title, this could be about that special person in your life - or could be about a  technique or tool you love. The possibilities are endless. Just complete your project and send a picture along with a description to scrappinpsycho@live.com. Your project will be posted here at Scrap Our Stash. The challenge will end at 6:00 PM on February 28th. A winner will be chosen and offered the opportunity to become a Guest Design Team Member for the month of April.

Can't wait to see your LOVE project.

January Challenge Winner

Once again, it was a very hard decision - so with help from the Design Team I chose these winners for the January New Challenge. Each of the ladies will be Guest Design Team Members for the month of March.

Meet Guest Design Team Member - Linda

Hi! I am Linda Cummings, a retired educator, wife of 32 years, and mother to a 30 year-old son. I began my adventure in paper crafting in 1988 when I discovered scrapbooking. Previously I had been tole-painting, cross-stitching, and designing/sewing clothes for myself and others. In 2008 I re-discovered stamping, and with the acquisition of Copic markers, I rekindled my childhood love for coloring.

I am excited to be the February Guest Designer for Scrap Our Stash. I want to thank Design Team member, Missy, for introducing me to this creative group.

Here's to February....a month of birthdays (mine and my husband's), our anniversary, Valentine's Day, and 'Scrapping Our Stash'. February is always fun at our house....hope it is fun at yours!

Meet Guest Design Team Member Sue

Hi, my name is Sue and I live with my husband and two cats in southeastern Michigan. I'm a piano teacher with a home studio, but when I'm not at the piano I love to be in my craft room. I started scrapping in 1999 when we returned from a trip to Israel and Egypt with so many wonderful photos that I knew needed a special home. That was my first album and I've been scrapping strong ever since. I also enjoy reading, knitting, beating my husband at Scrabble (okay, sometimes he wins) and watching NCIS.

Thanks for this great opportunity!

January Challenge by Faye

Reader Faye submitted this layout for the January New Challenge. She said, "Even though the "New" Challenge seemed to be wide open, I was having such a hard time with it. That is until last night. I was working on a layout and pulled out this paper lantern stamp I bought a few months ago. It was a $1.00 and I almost didn't buy it cause although I thought it was cute, I had no idea how I would ever use it on a page. It sat in my stamp drawer until last night when I decided to pull it out and use it. Since the stamp is new and it is a very new technique for me to stamp and cut out images to make my own embellishments, I thought that fit the challenge perfectly. Hope you like! Thanks for helping me scrap my stash!

Meet Design Team Member Tamara

Hi~ My name is Tamara Reed. I LOVE scrapbooking and would love to quit my job just to scrap 24/7. Heaven knows I have enough supplies to hoard myself up in my room for years. LOL I have been scrapbooking since I was ten, back in the days before acid free even existed. I have been married for 33 years to a wonderful husband who used to tease me about my scrap supply addiction. Surprise, he now works in the scrapbooking industry and helps me to feed it even more. :) We have two grown married children, Taralee married to Ryan and Tyler married to Jenn. We have two darling grandchildren (Taralee's kids) Brennan who is 7 and Kalli who is 5. Tyler and Jenn are expecting their first child in August so we have more baby layouts to look forward to. I work full time as a Dental Office Manager and have had the same boss for 32 years who is very good to me. We live in a suberb of Salt Lake City, UT and love to escape to the mountains every weekend and enjoy our cabin in the great outdoors, which has it's own little scrap closet for me to get my fix. I am excited to be part of the Scrap Our Stash community.

Meet Design Team Member Karen

Hi!  My name is Karen Williams and
I am a 36 year old mother of three who has been scrapbooking since the birth of my daughter three and half years ago ( Nancy thinks the half is very important). Originally from the UK, I am currently living in the Netherlands, hence my new found SAHM status, ( In the UK I was a teacher). I like simple scrapping, half an hour is my average time on a LO, and with three children in the house you can understand why. I set myself the challenge of making 365 LOs this year, I stopped count a month ago when I got to 370!
I love chocolate, pizza boxes from the postman, day trips to Amsterdam, shoes, crime novels, knitting, CSI on TV, baking, taking photographs, Strictly Come Dancing/dancing with the Stars, scrapbooking of course, and the spring.

I hate talking about myself, bananas, dentists, taking my children for jabs, having my hair cut, bananas, that I still bite my nails, and my oven. ( the oven is a long story) (yes bananas is in there twice- I really hate bananas - another long story)

Hi! My name is Staci Williams. I love to scrapbook, read, draw and paint. I'm also an avid classic movie watcher and poetry/story writer. I started scrapbooking when my son was born. I have always been a saver of mementos so scrapping seemed like a natural transition for me. My favorite aspect of scrapbooking is journaling as I have had a passion for the written word since I was a child.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Meet Design Team Member Tracy

Hi,
My name is Tracy Ross and I love using my stash. I have participated in these types of challenges for years and at one point I hosted a challenge (for a year) to use your stamps and also to use your diecuts.

There has been times when my inspiration is lacking but I have learned to look through my previous pages and albums and pull inspiration from them to complete assignments that I have had to have done. Besides the message boards, and my blog, and my personal business; I have also worked at two of my local scrapbooking stores while living in Minnesota. I designed my own cards, mini albums and page kits and classes. I created these projects and class descriptions, directions and more and was completely responsible for making a project that people would want to take a class for. I loved it. It was exciting and I miss that but because of our recent relocation I could not continue to work at either store (we moved to Mesa, AZ).

Meet Design Team Member Mary Pat

Hi!

My name is Mary Pat Siehl and I am married to a wonderful hubby. I have 2 children (Jack and Michael). They keep me busy and supplied with plenty of pictures to scrap. I am a high school teacher. I have been teaching for 22 years! Wow where does the time go?

I have been scrapping really since college (23 years ago), but it wasn't until the last 10 years when I became totally addicted to the hobby. I think it was because of the paper and embellishments. Oh how I love pattern paper!! If I were to describe my style it is clean and simple. I love to layer all the pattern paper. The more the better.

I am so honored to be a part of Scrap Our Stash. There are so many talented people, and Kathy is amazing! So let's let the fun begin!!

Meet Design Team Member Christine

Hi!

My name is Christine Emberson and I started scrapbooking a couple of years ago and I now feel I've found my footing and developed my own style. I desire to record, journal, punch, distress, sew and generally lavish everything with butterflies! I am at my happiest and most relaxed with a piece of 12 x 12 in my hand.

I live in South East England, in Kent, a county known as the 'Garden of England' so I am blessed with lots of fields and parks. I am an hour away from London and an hour away from the seaside so I have the best of all worlds to capture on my pages. My two sons and my three cats allow me to live with them as long as I feed and photograph them on a regular basis! I craft from my conservatory which allows tons of natural light and a healthy amount of storage space.. thankfully :-)

Lots of thanks and smiles

Christine :-) xx

Posted by PicasaHi!
My name is Sara Laurent.  I own and operate a small scrapbooking business called Down Memory Lane creating custom pieces for those who either do not have the time or the creativity but want timeless treasures. I love what I do and it is a big part of my life. I am also a proud military wife to Ssgt. Laurent and being a
supportive figure in the military community is a blessing.

This is a simple layout that I did for my personal book. I gave it a whimsical girly feel because I wanted to capture what I was feeling at the time when the pictures were taken. The photos are of my husband and I on a day trip to a gorgeous old plantation at Eden Gardens state park.

Design Team Member Tammy submitted this layout for the January New Challenge.  She said, this is a simple LO I did of my son with his new Nerf gun he got for his birthday, the thing is just about as tall as he is! I also included the word new in the title, "There's a New Sheriff in Town". For this LO I used Fancy Pants patterned paper from the Like Father Like Son line, Bazzill cardstock, Adorn It journaling sticker, and October Afternoon mini market letter stickers.

January Challenge by Stephanie

Design Team Member Stephanie submitted this calendar for the January NEW Challenge.   She said, "For this month's challenge, I designed this cute little birthday card! I've been on a bit of a streak for creating little cute cards (instead of scrapbooks), I'm terrible at sending cards if I have to make them in advance so I'm working to get better about that by making them in advance.

Other than my work-ahead approach, you may be wondering what's new about this card? This card uses a cupcake from my favorite new paper pad (SEI, Happy Day Collection), my new homemade light box, one of my new stamps from The Ink Pad, and a new technique (the shadowbox layout) that I picked up from the WMS Grand Calibur party! All in all, I think I'm getting the hang of CAS!"

January Challenge by Ren-Yi

Many moons ago, two friends of mine bought their first home together. Yours truly was on a business trip, so I missed the official house warming event. So we finally got together early summer of last year. These two wonderful people got married recently. So when Kathy issued out the January Challenge, I knew honoring this couple was the way to go. Their lives have taken many "NEW" things in the last year or so: a New home, became Newly engaged, and now are Newlyweds :)

So here a card to look back on their first "new" chapter ...

Happy New Home

This is one of those cards I did not get around to sharing with you. If my camera  did not lie, then this card was created exactly 265 days ago...I know hardly a NEW item ;)

I promise to be getting back to my crafting. After all, I just placed a crafty supply order and new toys need to be played with...!

Pagerize Gemiel by Karen

Guest Design Team Member Karen submitted this layout for the Pagerize This Challenge #6.  She said, here's my effort to pagerize Gemiel.  I loved the way her title looked so I copied the effect. I stuck thickers onto patterned paper and used a six letter title. I also copied the broad stripe of paper across the lower half of the LO. My color scheme is also kind of similar. I have yellow and green but I'm afraid I just can't face snow LOs at the moment. I made so many before Christmas and now the snow has gone I'm hoping to forget about snow for another year (fingers crossed).

January Challenge by Laurie B.

Reader Laurie submitted this layout for the January New Challenge.  She said, "Good morning,
Attached please find my challenge I completed for the “new” challenge.

For my challenge I chose pictures of my hubby and I taken a few years back at a New England Patriot’s game we went to. The pictures are in a store nearby the stadium. We sat in a luxury box and we thought we were all that, and quickly realized we are diehard fans and need to be in the stands with the other diehard fans. We did manager to have a great time!!

I also used a “new” technique on this page, I used glimmer mist. I have had this forever and couldn’t figure out what layout I should use it on. I thought about these pictures and figured if I use white cardstock you would be able to see the glimmer mist. It worked well and I will use this more often (thank you for making me get this out!!).

I cut the banner using the design studio and welded it together, I used the Sports Mania cartridge for that. George and the Basic Shapes for my letters and everything else is from my stash!!

Thanks for an awesome blog and fantastic challenges!!!

Best regards,

Laurie

January Challenge by Christy

With Just 15 minutes ...give or take a few, you can make a complete page and find that you will like it. Lately, I have been trying out some 15 minute layout ideas from Scraphappy.org. If you are like me, you have more photos than you know what to do with. There is, after all, only so much time in the day and never enough of it. I do my best not to focus on whether or not I am behind or caught up with scrapbooking. It's supposed to be about enjoying the process and then enjoying those moments when you can share your stories with others. That being said, I do love the process...and sometimes I go overboard with it. How many times have you sat down to work and then enjoyed embellishing and moving everything around on the page to make it "just so"? I know that I can take hours on a page before I am happy with it!

Now, before I show you my page, I will admit that it took me a little over 15 minutes to do. I did not, take longer than 30 minutes though. This little experiment has allowed me to let go of my need to keep adding things to the page. Simple is the name of the game: a simple example, a simple set of supplies, a simple page....and voila!

October afternoon papers,Fancy Pants felt flower, colorbox white ink and crochet doily cut from place mat
I was so glad to finish this page. It is page two of "Can I Have a Cup of Co?" which I made months ago. So now I challenge you to try something new and share it at Scrap Our Stash!  See all the detail HERE.

Reader Faye submitted this layout for the Pagerize This Challenge #6. She said, "Hi!!
Here is my layout for the Pagerize This Challenge. I loved the way Gemiel did her title and even though my title was a bit longer, tried to use the same effect. I also was a fan of the rounded corner on the large sheet of pattern paper and all the patterns she used. Gemiel's layout brought a lot of inspiration my way!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!

January Challenge by Danielle

Former Design Team Member Danielle submitted this project for the January New Challenge. She said, "this is a project that I completed to showcase my new house. Since HOME is the word I chose to be mine this year, I wanted to create something that allowed me to see it each day. I wanted to be reminded to be thankful that I have a nice home to be in and that Home is what I make of it.

I used leftover scraps of paper from another project to fill the spaces of the frame. The embellishments are pieces that I saved throughout the year from other projects. I cut apart a 4x6 photo of my new house to serve as the focal point of my frame. I used pattern tissue paper to create my rolled flower and added a pearl button for the center.

Thanks for the challenge-

Danielle

Thanks Danielle - it's great having you stop back in.

January Challenge by Wendy

January Challenge - Layout by Kimmarie

I just love this picture of my Emma. She was 2 years old, now she is 8. Time sure does fly by. She was modeling a new swimsuit and accessories. For the "New" I used my new felt Thickers for the title and I borrowed my cousin, Kelly's "New" Martha Stewart scissors that cut paper to look like grass or shredded paper. This was a fun and colorful layout for me to do. Now it's your turn to try the January Challenge.

The January Challenge is to do a NEW project. This can be a layout, card, or any kind of project having to do with NEW. You may want to use the word new in your title, this could be about a new year's resolution - or could be a new technique or tool you used to complete your project. The possibilities are endless. Just complete your project and send a picture along with a description to scrappinpsycho@live.com Your project will be posted here at Scrap Our Stash. The challenge will end at 6:00 PM on January 31st. A winner will be chosen and offered the opportunity to become a Guest Design Team Member for the month of March.

January Challenge by Holly

Reader Holly submitted this layout for the January NEW Challenge. She said, "I would like to submit my latest layout for the current January NEW challenge.

My new technique is creating an interactive layout. The photo works like a flap and can be lifted to reveal a journalling section. It is also relevant to the 'NEW' theme as it is a layout from our honeymoon, with our new status of husband and wife.

On My blog I have posted a more detailed blog post in relation to this new layout.

Thanks for posting up the challenge.
