May "May I?" Challenge by Penny

Design Team Member Penny submitted these projects for the May "MAY I?" Challenge. She said:

Here are two starting point layouts I have made recently. They are for a gift album I'm making. Each page started out as a full sheet of 12 x 12 paper which I added 3 - 6 x 6 squares to. The tulip layouts features a wedding invitation that I modified to make it into a journaling block.

May "MAY I?" Challenge by Elizabeth

Design Team Member Elizabeth submitted this card for the May "MAY I?" Challenge. She said:

Whilst I admire a number of styles, steampunk, CAS (not that I'm any good at that) Barbara Gray, etc., my all-time favourite is the shabby chic/vintage style and Lenet Mos at To Scrap or Not to Scrap - That's the Question. is an expert in this style. Here is her piece which I used as inspiration.

I especially like how Lenet takes a plain white chipboard frame and completely transforms it with ink, embossing powder and glitter. My frame is covered in a mixture embossing powders and glitters, all mixed together in a pot ... just a pinch of this and a pinch of that ... not very precise at all. It took just two coats of the mix to achieve the effect aimed for.

The seam binding was sprayed with water, crumpled up and left overnight to dry to get the shabby effect. The rose was already tinted with a pale mauve shade but the edges of the petals have also been tipped with Victorian Velvet DI. I didn't have any of those pretty pink petals that Lenet used so I punched some from a snippet of pink card and touched the tips with distress ink too.

For more information on how I made the card and a list of the materials used, including the recipe for the embossing mix, please visit my blog.

May "May I" Challenge by Stacy H-W

Hello everyone!!  Stacy here to share my May I project with you today.  As soon as I heard of this challenge I immediately knew who I was going to be inspired by because I am inspired by her everyday.  Denise at Lala's World Blog is one of the most exciting, inspirational scrappers I know.  She actually is the person who introduced me to scrapping.  I can't believe that 2 years ago I had never scrapped!!

For this challenge I went to Lala's World and when I scrolled down I found the perfect layout to  scraplift.  I really just loved the use of circles and the soft feel of her work.  I decided to make a layout using a photo of our daughter.  We adopted her from China and the photo is from the time while we were waiting...us in the US....her in China.
Layout made by Stacy at Scrap with Stacy (with a little help from her dd in the photo)

As you can tell I used the same basic layout but did change a few things.  I used a ton of flowers from my stash.  I am laughing because I just realized that my daughter added that pink flower bling to the middle of the center circle.  I guess she didn't think I was quite finished!! LOL  She is 4 years old now and really into bling.  She told me multiple times today that she loved my paper (meaning she loves my layout).  I'm glad she likes it since it is for her book.

I hope you are inspired to join in on this challenge and I hope you pop over and check out all the great projects that Denise has on her blog.  You won't be sorry you did!!

Until next time...happy scrapping!!!

May "MAY I" Challenge by Nathalie

Guest Design Team Member Nathalie submitted this layout for the May "MAY I?" Challenge. She said:

Here is my project for the May "May I?" challenge. As soon as I read about this month's challenge, I thought about Miss Smith. I am an avid follower of her blog for the simple reason that I admire her work, I might be her biggest fan! :) So I asked her if I could create a page based on this one here: http://www.journalofcuriousthings.co.uk/2012/03/ill-fated-trip.html
 and she has kindly agreed!

As you can see, I stayed pretty close to hers, borrowing the overall design but also some of her great elements like the banner, the mixed alphas and her "trademark" layering + paper clips.

I love the result of this lift!

Thank you once again for the chance of guest designing for Scrap Our Stash this month and thank you Kirsty for allowing me to borrow some of your talent!

May "MAY I" Challenge by Charlotte

Design Team Member Charlotte submitted these layouts for the May "MAY I" Challenge. She said:
This was a really fun challenge for me because one of the things that I love best about scrapping is that there are so many great artists and blogs out there that provide us with inspiration. I used a layout done by Lynn ( aka scrappyhappymom) that she did of her very cute puppy . Here is the link to her blog with the layout of hers that I used. http://scrappyhappymom.blogspot.ca/2012/04/this-is-what-life-is-all-about-scrapfit.html

What I loved about the layout that I scraplifted is that it had a really fun style. I tend to be very linear when doing layouts and I loved that everything was at an angle. I think it adds a really "fun" feel! I also loved the spray of embellishments across the bottom of her layout.

May 'MAY I?' Challenge by Sarah

Stuck close to home: Snarf my idea from an Artist who also lives here in Ottawa and who's work I can (and do) spend much time admiring. She does it all: jewelry, painting, journaling... and it's all just so pretty.

 The copied work is HERE.
The Blog post around it is HERE.

Really liked the ripped bits and pieces in this,
As well as the 'highlighted' framed photo.
Though it itself is not a Scrapbook Page, it works as a great template for one.

Been falling behind in my personal goal to have at least 1/2 of our Wedding Scrapbook done by the end of 2012, so I used this challenge as an opportunity to git'anuther page done.
The pictures were taken by a dear friends Mother (Barbara McGoey) who attended our wedding. She is a FAB-u-lous photographer who took a bunch of really awesome candid shots.
Most the the ripped up bits are either a copy of our Wedding Invitation or the online RSVP information card.
Background paper is Little Yellow Bicycle 'Lucky Me' line.
Flower sticker strip (snipped into 2 pieces) and Lucky Journal block (ripped in 2) is also from LYB 'Lucky Me' line
Other paper strips are unknown, bits I found in the scrap pile that matched well.
Bling-y Double Hearts and 12" strip (snipped into smaller pieces) are from KaiserCraft.
Metal Frame around the Cake is Making Memories.
The Dreams sticker is from K&Company.
Ribbon was a bit I got in a Swap, er... years ago... *blowing the dust off*

Hoping that she likes my 'May I?' take on her project,
Thank-You for the inspiration Wendy!
