February Leap Challenge by Penny

Guest Design Team Member Penny submitted this layout for the February Leap Challenge.  She said:

This is a layout of my grandson Matthew as he played gleefully in the water sprinkler at our home in Bridgeport. I took several photos of him and his sister that summer, it is amazing how much fun kid's can have with just a little water!

When completing this layout I had laid the solid white journal strips down on the lime cardstock, however when I placed them on the layout, the white was just too stark against the background, so I took inks that matched the background paper colors and smudged the strips till they no longer had such a bad contrast with the background Kaleidoscope papers. While the effect is not perfect it did improve the overall "look" of the journal strips against the background paper.

The journaling on this layout reads:
Matthew playing in the sprinkler's, at Bridgeport. I love the look of pure joy on his face! Oh, to be that young again! 2009
Supplies used:  MME Kaleidoscope "Me and Dad" Paisley/Periwinkle #KSI079 (This line of paper and the "Wild Asparagus" line are STILL my favorite collections of all time, and I will truly be sad when it is all gone!)
Tim Holtz-Tim 21445 Dusty Concord Ink (Purple)
Brilliance Ink BR-38 Pearlesecent Sky Blue
Lime cardstock
Dk blue cardstock
assorted brads (loved how the frog brads fit in with this month's theme)
Colorbok-Glitter Alpha letter punch outs
Silk Flowers (these were actually purchased from just the floral department at the local "Dollar General" store. I just tore them off the stems and put them on my layout, with brads.)
Martha Stewart-photo corner punch
Kodak Picture maker-I used this to edit, print and put the border on the photo.
Elmer's glue stick
Fiskers Paper trimmer-I have had this thing FOREVER and even though I have several "FANCY" ones, this is the one I use repeatedly.

Now it's your turn to take the February LEAP Challenge. The February Challenge is anything to do with LEAP - it could be a Leap you've taken in buying or using a new tool, a new product, a new technique, or your project could have somehing to do with your taking a leap. Anything goes! Take a leap and take the challenge. To participate in the February LEAP Challenge - just email a picture of your project along with a description to Scrappinpsycho@live.com

All submissions will be posted to The Scrap Our Stash blog and on February 29th a winner will be chosen, and given the opportunity to be a Guest Design Team Member for the month of April. This challenge ends at midnight central time February 29th.
