Anything Fuzzy ~ Wendy C

Good Morning!  Time to share more inspiration!!!
DT Wendy and her thoughts on the "Anything Fuzzy " Challenge:
Good Morning! For the "something fuzzy" challenge, I had to dig through my stash to find something to use. Down at the bottom of the drawer, I found these adorable Spring felt accents. Cute, colorful and FUZZY! It really is a good morning when I get to work with a beautiful morning picture and clean out the stash. I hope you all have a good morning!
and here is Wendy's layout using some cute little fuzzy critters:
Have you checked your stash yet and pulled out your Fuzzies?
You have until Feb 27th to create a layout and show us how you used something FUZZY on your page!

Anything Fuzzy ~ Brenda

Good morning everyone!   For this challenge I knew I would use my stash of WRMK's "Tres Elegant" collection because several of the patterned papers and embellies in this collection are flocked
(the striped paper on my layout is flocked)
After getting the base of my layout completed I realized that the embellies in the kit were not what I wanted to use for this little boy layout so I pulled out some burlap and tried my hand at making a "masculine" looking flower.   While creating the flower, I realized I had fuzz all over the place from the burlap, so I would say that burlap is fuzzy although it has a rough texture.   My small journaling chipboard embellishment is also flocked!
So here is my layout and my take on using something FUZZY!

February Challenge ~ Anything "FUZZY"

Hello friends of SOS!   It's time to kick off our February Challenge.  We are changing up the challenge a little this month and instead of emailing your entry, you will be required to link it up below.
Our challenge this month is to create a layout and add anything "FUZZY" to it.
So dig into your stash and pull out some of fuzzy things and get to scrappin'.  We would love to see what you come up with.

If you would like the chance to Guest Design on SOS:
  • You must be a FOLLOWER of our blog
  • Link your NEWLY created layout below by Jan 27th, 11:59 PM (PST)
  • When posting your entry on your blog or in your online gallery, you must include a link back to SOS!
The design team will choose there favorite three submissions to be featured and one of the 3 will be invited to Guest Design for SOS in April!!!!

This is what DT Haley had to say about the challenge:
For this challenge, I had to not only dig deeply into my stash, but also into my creativity! I couldn't think of anything fuzzy that I had on hand to use, but then inspiration struck when I remembered these photos of my daughter and her stuffed animals. (She's 14 now, so we are going way back!) I used the new Close To My Heart paper pack, Chantilly, along with some old "Sassy Strands." The right page is a pagerization (Is that a real word?) of the Spring/Summer 2013 Close To My Heart Idea Book cover, and I LOVE how it turned out. If you'd like to learn more, please visit my blog at http://inkyscrapper.blogspot.com.
.....and here is Haley's take on the challenge:

Thank you for stopping by and check back daily for more DT inspiration

Unexpected Turn of Events

Dear SOS friends,

7 months ago I was asked to take over the SOS blog and it was with great intention that I did so to make new friends, hostess new challenges and participate in them as well. Little did I know that my mother would become dreadfully ill  with Lung  Cancer, stage 4 at the very time I took over this site. I tried my best to hang in here and met some wonderful designers who agreed to stay on without  any hesitations. I am so grateful to each of them and to all of them who agreed to be thrown into the spotlight as Designer of the Month, those who have agreed to be Pagerized, and for each person who has come by to participate with comments and playing along!

Sadly my mother lost her battle at the same time I began ownership of SOS, and now my body is calling out to me that I need to now face what has happened and slow down,  taking more time with my family and tending their needs better as well as my own health, as I just had a hysterectomy.

Because of each of these things I will be turning the  blog over into new hands once more but I know you will love the two girls taking over. They have great plans for SOS and I look forward to seeing how it all works out for them and you! Brenda Ragsdale(Current DT Member) and Rochelle Spears are both well known designers in this industry and both are inspirational. You will surely love them as much as I do :)

I hope that you will continue visiting and have fun seeing what the girls have in mind and it is with that I bid a farewell and thank you for having me this past year as your list mom and hostess.

Peace,
Deb♥

Saying Goodbye is SO Hard to do!

When I took over the list mom position of SOS I only knew one of the ladies and so I was quite thankful for those who decided to stick it out with me as the newbie and see if we could develop a working relationship and friendship wrapped around the art of scrapbooking. Well,  as it does happen two of the lovely ladies have come to the end of their terms with SOS and I for one am most grateful for the time to get to know them, their work, and a little about them as the months went by. I look forward to seeing where they each go into 2013 and have let them both know they are always welcome back here at SOS. So, please help me say goodbye today to Charlotte and Debbie.

Take care girls!

Tag, You're It!  Fall is my favorite time of year.  Here I am - wearing my new rain boots.  The paper is KaiserCraft "Tiny Woods" with a few stickers from Little Yellow Bicycle's "Acorn Hollow'.  The tag is made with kraft paper and the edges are inked using Creative Memories chalking inks.  The ribbon is satin from Stampin'Up dyed with Rangers "Dylusions - Squeezed Orange Ink Spray"

Cathy Sanders of What's Up with Me is playing with us today! Here is what she told me about her layout :) Deb♥

I've just done a layout that is perfect for your challenge.... it's from my birthday last year...I used the Making Memories tag maker to do all the squares and tags on the page.

Sorry for the Interuption :(

Hello Loyal Friends! I am just sending an apology for the lack of projects this month. Sadly, I have had major computer issues all of this at the same time  I am recovering from surgery. I am adding some amazing projects tonight so I hope you enjoy as we pick up where we left off!

Tag You're It by our Friend Jessica Navarro

We have another friend stopping by today with her layout for Tag You're It! Look at her sweet sweet baby!!!
Deb♥

These are pictures of my daughter and I in Aruba. We took an island tour of Aruba and DD zonked out right before our lunch destination and then slept in my arms throughout the entire lunch. She was exhausted from such a busy morning. The tags are from Creative Memories and I stuck them into a pocket I made out of a journaling pad. I added a bit of ribbon to the tags. I left the tags blank as I journaled on the journaling block; a technique I have never used, but I really like how it turned out. I have posted more information and pictures on my blog at http://scraplifterdesigns.blogspot.com/2013/01/january-load-38-39-nap-time.html

Tag You're It by Elizabeth

Designer, Elizabeth with her Tag layout :)
Deb♥

The challenge this month is to create a layout using tags and you.  Now, I found this challenge kind of taxing. Not because of the tag requirement, that was the easy bit, but because of the ‘you’ requirement. You see, I’m usually the one with the camera so there are very few photos, recent ones anyway, taken of me ... and most of those I really don’t like at all. However, whilst out doing a bit of Christmas shopping, we were delighted to spot Mickey and Minnie strolling through our town centre and, as luck would have it, I had my camera with me. And, better still, they were more than happy to strike a pose!

To create the layout I’ve raided my stash and used papers from a few different sources, old and new.  The embellishments were mostly handmade using paper punches and bits and bobs from stash too.

I admit to still not being too happy with this layout ... it has taken me forever to complete and that was after starting and stopping several times. I think I may have to revisit it sometime in the future to see if I can improve on it. I might even take it apart and start again!

For this month's challenge I dug deep in my stash to find a photo from my wedding day.  This was taken at the hair salon my bridesmaids and I had our hair done at.  In the picture my up-do is complete and my veil is on, all that's left now is get my wedding gown on and get to the church!  I made my own tags for journaling spots.  Everything in my layout is from Bella Blvd.  Now let's see your take on this challenge!

Tag You're It by Sarah

Hey Everyone! A few days ago something  happened here in our Blogger that did not quite reveal Sarah's Tag layout so I just thought I would add it  again and take a new strike at it! Sorry for any confusion it may have caused and thanks to those who let me know!!!
Deb♥

Grabbed a few pictures taken for an older SOS challenge (squares) and never used.
Ha! Scrapping my Scrap Your Stash stash.
Wanted the LO bright, bold and silly 'cause that's what these pictures were.
Dug deep and found a Bo Bunny sticker set I bought erm... awhile ago, so long ago can't remember when or what for, that had a BIG Tag sticker on it I used for the Title. Each of the stickers were placed on black cardstock then cut out free hand. I like the 'wobble' of free hand cutting. The title TAG also has a snippet of Stampin' Up! gingham ribbon tucked underneath.
Pictures were inked in black around the edges to make them POP on the brightly colored background.
The bit of Queen & Co. Lime Green sticker trim was a snippet of leftovers sitting on my desk.
Regular Brads are also BoBunny.
Bling Brads are KeepSake Crafts.
Flowers by Prima.
Papers are unknown.

Remember:
Take time everyday to do something SILLY.
Maybe even a silly LO! ;)

Tag You're It by Tamara

I had so many things going through my head with this challenge and so many ways that this can be done.  In the end the pictures of our dinner at Knotts Berry Farm were chosen to create this layout.  I used tags of all kinds, I turned the picture mats into tags simply by mounting them and cutting off one corner, taking the triangle cut and placing it on the other side of the tag and cutting it so they would be even on both sides. (hope that makes sense to you).  I used a making memories circle tag for the title and also tags to journal our story.  I loved using bright red and yellow to compliment the chicken pictures.  This is one challenge that I will for sure be using again.  So much fun once I got started.  Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Tag You're It by Debbie

I've had these two photos of myself in my "to do" folder for quite some time and hadn't gotten around to putting them on a layout. I just got this pretty purple paper from Echo Park, (The Winter Wishes Collection),  and knew right away that it would work well for those photos. I created tags from my patterned paper to hold the titles saying "Happy Birthday" in the American and Hindu version. Since I do not scrapbook about myself very often, I was glad that this challenge gave me the nudge I needed to do so. And who doesn't love using tags on their layouts!

This was a great challenge for me! First of all because I got to use up the rest of my Echo Park Hello Spring mini theme collection and second because I got to use up some tags that have been sitting in my drawer for a very long time. Tags are such a fun thing to make and look so cute on layouts! http://scrapsational-char.blogspot.ca/

Tag You're It by Wendy

While I was in the mood to work on some Christmas pages, I decided to work on the Tag You're It Challenge. I love these classic reds from this My Mind's Eye Christmas collection. And I was lucky enough to even find a nice picture of me and the hubby. The tags are chipboard pieces and I added some really pretty red flowers from the stash, along with a piece of gold ribbon. I also added a strip of red velvet ribbon behind the photo. This is one of my favorite pages,...I guess that means I have to make sure I get more pictures of me and the hubby! Have a great day!

Tag You're It by Karen

I went a little to town with the tags on my LO- there are twelve in all- some are punched tags and don't have the hole in them but I think they still count. I chose the paper as it went with the pattern of my daughter's dress and then I went from there using scraps and bits and bobs to finish it off.

Tag You're It by Haley

Making a layout about me isn't easy, but this was the perfect challenge to use this year's school picture of me.  I used lots of odds and ends from my stash to try to match the shirt I was wearing that day.  Some of my supplies are old, but some are current.  Most are from Close To My Heart, but the stickers were from an assortment I won several years ago.  It was actually fun to focus on me just a bit and use some supplies (instead of hoarding them)!

Tag You're It by Brenda

Hello and thanks for stopping by!

I love the look of tags on layouts and all of the various ways you can use them in your design.   For this month's tag challenge I cut a tag with my Cricut out of kraft cardstock, layered it with a journaling card, added a gear and twine.  I then layered it behind the paper bag. I love the look this created.

Pull out your tags and let SOS see how you use them.   The possibilities are endless.

I have another project to show you today that is brought to us from our DT  member of the month, Ange. Here it is!
Deb♥

This is my youngest getting into trouble, he's a professional at only 3! Proud mama here. lol The title die-cut was the inspiration for this whole page. I knew I had these photos of my son breaking into the presents early and pulled them out to make this adorable layout.

I did a lot of layering, doubled up on some of the elements by fussy cutting the exact same ones from another paper and then adding them to this with foam adhesive. I also had fun doodling, distressing, inking and using a little glossy accents and Stickles to glitter things up. More details and photos on my blog. http://scrappingcompulsion.blogspot.com/

I started this layout on shamrock pattern paper to give the Irish feel of visiting the Causeway.  I used circles as an embellishment across the top of the page as well as to name the people in my photos.  I also used tiny brads (more circles) down the side of the Causeway information sheet.  I love how the circles give such a finished look to my page.  Thanks for looking!

Way to dig into your stash Elizabeth and find something beautiful crying out to be used!
Deb♥

Hi Everyone, I was sorting through and reorganizing my paper stash recently, and all the while thinking about this month's challenge to use circles in a layout, when I rediscovered this sheet of beautiful patterned paper from The ScrapCake, My Private Happiness - Happiness In The Air. The floral circles in the design were perfect and this photo, of a much younger me taken some twenty-two years ago, was just right too. I used a saucer, it was just the right size, as a template to cut round the photograph. All the materials for the clusters came from my stash, only the title letters are new - I never seem to have suitable letters when I want them. This page will probably end up in the Family History album to be seen by my great-grandchildren one day ... wonder what they will think of those padded shoulders! My LO is called "so very lovely Thumbelina" when we were away in France in June Nancy found a tiny doll's dress at the house we were staying. She put it on her thumb and drew a little face on to make her own Thumbelina. I thought it was so cute I had to take a photo. I thought the papers on my LO went nicely with the colours in the photo.

It's getting to be that time of year and if you haven't already gotten your family photos done, you're probably looking into scheduling one. Every time we do a family shoot we end up with many "out-takes" before we get the "good" photo. But often I love the out-takes almost as much as the photo I'm after. It's all about the little moments, isn't it? So this layout has the "good" family photo that I used for Christmas cards last year, along with some of the funny photos that preceded it.
This time of year can be fairly hectic and busy. I used a sketch for this layout from http://www.nutsaboutsketches.blogspot.com/ it really helps the process along. If you've never tried a sketch, you should and if you have, now you have another fun site to get free sketches from. More details and pictures on my blog: http://scrappingcompulsion.blogspot.com/

Hi all Scrap Our Stash readers;

I might be new to some of you but I have been busy with family
matters and have had a break for a while! Now I'm back for this
month's challenge with round elements.

In this case I have cut pictures with Spellbinders dies and placed
them in the empty spaces after having sprayed a cardstock with
doilies in different colours. That was an experiment to see how it
would look like; what do you think?

Other elements are scalloped journaling spots from Jillibean Soup,
buttons and some brads, too. The pictures were taken in the gardens
of the Chinese Pavilion this summer when the gardeners organized
a special exhibition with a lot of beautiful flowers and dancers.

Circle Around by Sarah

Hi Everyone! Sarah has a challenge layout for us today for Circle Around. Ready to see? Here she is!
Deb♥

I was late getting my page in *hanging head in shame*... The moving gremlins have been playing many tricks. My circle cutters got packed, even though I <swear> I didn't pack them. Opened 1/2 my packed Studio moving boxes and they were nowhere to be found.

Then my printed pictures vanished and magically reappeared 2 weeks later.

~curious~

My (late) page is about the wonderful opportunity we had to visit a friends farm the Monday of (Canadian) Thanksgiving Weekend. Our 4 boys all got a chance to try Ax Throwing for the 1st time. My eldest, Arthur, is front and center for this lay-out.

Journaling reads:

1...2...3... THROW!!!

*Beautiful fall day spent at the Buchanan Farm... The Boys were thrilled to try Ax Throwing. Arthur is a natural !!!!*

I ended up going very 'old school' on the circles for this layout, Read: everything is hand-cut!

Was at a small local crop and no one else had a circle cutter there either, so I grabbed the only things I could find to use as guides. Traced  a wide circle around a Styrofoam plate for the biggest circle, when I cut that out and it was a wee lopsided BUT so was the log-slice target the boys were using. huzzah! I meant it be that way (uh-huh...) really. :) The blue circle was an exact tracing of the plate (much better form), the next white circle was traced on a large tin of Prima flowers and the red was the inside of a roll of adhesive.

Really wanted it to look like the target they used so I dragged a light brown ink pad down the 'target' before attaching it to the backing to make the wood cracks.

Also roughed up the background paper with sand paper and ink.

This month's mini-themes for me is 'mother-of-invention and rustic', lol.

Added a 2nd picture with a close-up of Arthur and the target so you can see what I was going for.

Circle Around by Haley

What I have learned to really enjoy about Haley's layouts is that she is not afraid to put together a 2pager which is rare these days, I think. She has yet another of her pieces here today with lots of fun circles :) Deb♥ Haley told us: In some ways it feels like we've come full circle from playing dress up to getting dressed up! Our older daughter is a freshman in high school, so we are experiencing many "firsts" this year. Here she is at her first high school dance, Fall Ball. The pink and gray combo fit her dress and photos perfectly, and I was able to use up lots of my retired stash (mainly from Close To My Heart). I used a large Marvy scalloped circle punch to create my large circles and then nested smaller circles inside for journaling. This was a great page to scraplift.  I love all of the randomness across the top.  I used this funky picture of my boss in a crazy hat.  I also used washi tape on the bottom left hand corner as well as across the bottom.  I loved the random embellishments that rounded out this fun layout.  I would love to use this lift again.  It was fabulous!  Thanks Karen for your expertise and example.

Circle Around by Tammy

Ohhhhh I am glad that my challenge this month caused Tammy to dig into her cutting stash! She created a beauty!

I love layouts with circles, I even bought a large circle cutter (and paid a lot for it!)  Problem is I always forget about it, so I was very excited about this month's challenge.  These are pictures of my daughter when she was a couple years old.  She found a roll of Christmas wrapping paper and decided to have some fun!  I used all kinds of circles in the layout, from the circle papers to the bottle caps and buttons!
